Aging Room Cigars

Founded in 2011 by Rafael Nodal, with cigar master Jochi Blanco in charge of production, Aging Room is a boutique premium cigar brand based in the Dominican Republic. Featuring a variety of deliciously complex blends, it was the year 2013 when Aging Room became a household name due to the Quattro F55 being awarded #2 Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado. Since then, Aging Room has evolved and continued to push the envelope of what a hungry and passionate brand still in its infancy can attain.

Aging Room Bin No. 2

A medium-strength cigar, the Aging Room Bin No. 2 is composed of tobaccos grown in the rich soils of Ometepe, a volcanic island in Nicaragua. The Bin No. 2 is a Nicaraguan puro from wrapper to filler. The Aging Room Bin No. 2 provides flavorful notes of spice and wood underscored with a smooth creaminess.

The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.

The factory is located in the La Palma free trade zone, which is in the Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic. It is considered one of the oldest tobacco companies in the Dominican Republic. When developing the blend for the Aging Room Quattro Sonata, Rafael Nodal (the brand owner) drew on his experience as a musician and passion for music. The cigar is named after a musical composition that is meant to be played by soloist. Typically, it is an instrumental piece accompanied by a piano. The Sonata cigar is composed of all premium Nicaraguan leaves that is covered by a mouthwatering maduro wrapper. The cigars are handmade at AJ Fernandez’s factory in Nicaragua using tobacco grown on Fernandez’s farm. When lit, this flavorful, medium-strength cigar offers a unique smoking experience that will appeal to traditional and contemporary aficionados.

Forrest Price on a box, and are singles available. Hate to waste a grand on a bad cigar, don't care what the brand or fancy wrapping is all about. I love amazing cigars, but is this one all that? It's still just tobacco. Like fine wine, sometimes the hype is not worth the price. Shall I spend the duccats for this one? or is a box of Partagas Churchills just as good for far less? Let me know. Money is not the issue, but they hype this shit so hard...just have to know.

I waited for this release to review it, being a fan of Aging Room and their Quattro Sonata I had to try this one. It comes in their usual variety of sizes, but since it's a Criollo I decided to try the Grande 6 by 60 (my size preference for many brands). It starts with a vibrant, nutty profile and sweet cocoa tobacco notes. The balance of spice notes is something Aging Room does phenomenally and it shows with this cigar because as I got halfway through, the spice took the front seat with the sweet tobacco and nutty profile accenting. Lots of rich smoke and plume, the cigar definitely picks up in the final third and shows some strength with the oils bringing back the cocoa and nutty notes of the Criollo. I paired this with a coconut water for the first time and then my choice of amaretto chilled for the second time, enjoying it down to the nub each time. Highly recommend this cigar for anybody who enjoys a balance of sweet notes with mild spice accents, and would recommend it for my medium to full body smokers.

Cut: guillotine Draw: Medium tight with decent airflow Virgin draw: Cocoa and roasted coffee beans Aroma: creamy chocolate and coffee First 1/3: Roasted coffee beans, dark cocoa, and tingling pepper on the mouth. The pepper is mild in flavor and reminiscent of red pepper almost Cayenne and mesquite like. Very characteristic of a Nicaraguan blend. Cream starts to come in with some sweetness and leather punching its way in. As it develops into the first third, leather, cream, mesquite, and some earth are the main players. I’m usually not a fan of earth at all, but the Earth is blended very well into the flavor where it’s almost undetectable. Half: the cigar starts to mellow while wet cedar, florals, and some nuttiness start to become the main players. Slight leather is still there with some roasted coffee notes. The burn on this is exceptional and is holding up very well. Last third: sweet cream, leather, earth and some spice take over. Flavors are balanced well. The flavors dance together really well on this stick. End: mesquite came through big time on the flavor with wet cedar. Cream and leather lingering. Lasting aroma is heavy on cedar and woods Solid 8.75/10. Points deducted for the draw, and sometimes a little too much earth, but that did dissipate majority of the way through the cigar. Easily could be a nine. Pairs well with a coffee, heavy Brandy or bourbon. Definitely recommending eating something prior to this smoke.

Ever since the Aging Room Quattro Sumatra Sonata came out, it has been catching my attention with its bright colors. Cold Draw shows signs of coffee and lots of spices. At first light, this cigar tells you right away that it's going to be spicy. Earthiness and spice are the strongest notes on the retrohale, but an exquisite mix of nuttiness, cream, earthiness, and tons of spice are packed into this cigar. The second and final third showed a strong emergence of coffee notes, which paired wonderfully with the spice and creaminess. Draw is absolutely great, with only a couple retouches needed on the burn. Aroma was fantastic, which is what I expected from this fabulous line. The smoke output was absolutely fantastic, way better than I expected. This cigar is nice, medium bodied with full flavor, but you definitely need to like spicy cigars if you intend to pick this one up! I would pair this with a nice scotch to sit back and enjoy after a nice dinner!

Another amazing cigar from Rafael Nodal, this time with the help of AJ Fernández and his Nicaraguan factory. The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua is an extremely well renowned blend, taking cigar of the year in 2019 with its torpedo size, and this beautiful box-pressed Churchill simply gave me more to enjoy. This Nicaraguan puro starts off strong with some heavy chocolate and espresso notes from the first third, balanced out by a pleasant spice in the retrohale. The maduro sweetness is soon complemented by faint leather and earth notes in the second third. The final third brought the smoke to a close with a rich sweetness, which leaves a nice mild finish on the palette. Construction wise the cigar was near perfect, wrapper leaf in beautiful condition with clear rolling seams and the burn line only needed to be corrected a few times. I’d pair this cigar with a nice cognac to complement the mellow sweetness in the final third.

I enjoyed this smoke. Not as much body as the regular Nicaragua but it had a nice draw and flavor and aroma. The burn required some touching up but nothing serious. I got some earth and coffee and spice as advertised. I still prefer the regular Nicaragua but this was an enjoyable smoke as well.

I really like the Quattro Nicaragua so I thought to try this. It is much milder for sure. Too mild for my taste. The draw was ok but volume of smoke was low. Really needed to pull hard to a decent amount. Burn needed a few touch ups but nothing drastic. Not a bad cigar but I prefer the Nicaragua over sonata for volume of smoke and stronger.

This is a smoke that is a little complex and easy to enjoy. Start off with a nice little peppery flavor then it gets a little mild and just when you think it's gonna get borit's gonna get boring a lot more flavor and pepper kicks in on the 2nd half kind of nutty flavor with the little nutmeg.

I've smoked a number of maestros but this is my first concerto and just as good with an excellent draw and burn even with the dent in the middle. Gotta try the other sizes too. Well done cigar.. it is OK. Strength to place this stick in the full flavored category is there but it gets rather bitter at halfway. A lot of body and flavor in the first half but it fades. I light in total stillness but had a racing burn up one side that needed three flame corrections. Not a bad cigar.. the second half did not pass muster. You will get earth, hay, and a bit of chocolate body taste in the first half. It is just an OK smoke… 86-87 range!

Nice cigar, i don’t see the 96 points from Cigar Afficinado but I am no expert. I wouldn’t turn it down as a gift and I may buy it again and age it. What I like … looks good, burns (mostly) evenly, good ash head, smoke is not over powering. Taste a bit sweet (the wrapper) and the draw taste a little chalky (maybe woody and leathery?). Ring gauge is about perfect. What I don’t like… a bit light for a box press … I like my boxed pressed a bit denser. No real complaints. For a regular cigar it’s pretty good and the price doesn’t hurt. Don’t expect to be blown away though.

This thing is a SMOKE MONSTER. A looser than average roll produces volumes of smoke that tastes of coffee and bay leaves. The loose roll is no problem however, the stick lights and burns evenly from toe to head. The unconventional wrapper is a welcome change of pace. From start to finish, a keeper all the way. Immaculate cigar. Dark even toned wrapper. Seamless and without visible veins. Solid construction, box pressed with good proportions. Seductive aroma, makes my mouth water. V cut produces a perfect draw, with hints of sweet cinnamon and chocolate. Once lit this beauty produces a fair amount of smoke, not very thick, just right. Initial flavors of dry wood and earth take over my mouth. Nothing subtle about this smoke. Dryness dissappears Flavors mellow and blend to a complex full bodied earth wood with coffee bean hints on the tip of my tongue. Burn was sharp, ash held for about 1 1/2 inch, expected better. Amazing smoke. Relax and Enjoy.

I ordered one of these because a few friends of mine swear by it. When it comes to draw, burn, and appearance and composition, it might be one of the best cigars I’ve ever seen. And upon cold draw, I sweet, nutty notes that gave me high hopes for it. However, after smoking about half of it, I ended up putting it out. The flavor just doesn’t do it for me. Really disappointing because as I’ve said, beautiful composition, excellent draw, great and even burn up until I put it out. The flavor just wasn’t my thing though and I wasn’t enjoying it at all.

A looser draw put out tons of smoke. Primary notes are wood/cedar with pepper playing a secondary role. Cocoa grows as it goes into 2nd third, with leather coming in at the close. Complex and delicious. A new favorite. Excellent and highly recommend.

Had a April 2020 manufacturing date on this box. I'm impressed by the burn and draw. Quite a few #1 Cigar of the Year burnt very badly (esp Alec Bradley) after getting the award. A sure sign that the factory was rushing to produce sub-par products to cater to the increased demand from winning the award. This cigar did not exhibit that at all. Decent flavour of tea and nicotine strength was just nice. I wouldn't necessarily agree that this the #1 cigar but it's a good cigar.

I can say it was delightful, tasted great, smelled fantastic, burned perfectly, and was worth the price. Definitely tasted some differences as I smoked it. All of them good. Fairly strong, paired it with a Fat Tire beer. Good stuff.

Was excited about this one. Dry taste and draw was semi sweet chocolate and sweet tobacco. Draw: Good draw with a little resistance, plenty of smoke. Appearance: This is a nice looking cigar. Banding is pretty nice and clean. Smooth chocolate wrapper and nice torpedo. Construction on this cigar is great. Burn: Burn got whacky on me a few times a required some touch ups. no relights. Aroma: pleasant aroma. Taste: I normally don’t taste a whole lot of what is in the description of cigars, but on this one they nailed all of them. Smooth all the way through with an easy retro. Cedar, chocolate and earth. Cedar and chocolate are predominant in the first two thirds then transitions into more Earth on the final third. Overall, good smoke that I will always have in rotation now. Smokes really well aside from the burn.

Milk chocolate wrapper, no blemishes with a really soft feel on the cap and shoulder and semi soft feel on the body. Not a firm cigar at all, which worried me a bit. Dry aroma and draw smell and taste like raisins and sweet tobacco. Straight cut brought a wide open easy draw that gave off clouds of smoke. Burn was a tad wavy and need a correction or two, but it didn’t take away from the experience. If flavor/body is what you look for in a cigar that maintains medium to full strength this is a must try. Sweet tobacco that starts off creamy and transitions real nice into a earthy mineral taste that I love with a semi bitter finish that balances out the sweet and earth a lot. Liked this cigar a lot.

I don't usually go with all the hype that other people but on anything but this one delivered in the most impressive way. It's smooth, delicious, enjoyable, and a damn fine stick. I have had my fair share of them as well. Well worth a try if you are wavering at all. 5 out of 5 for me anyway.

Let me start out by saying "WOW!!!" The Aging Room Bin No. 2 C Major is a must for anyone who is a fan of Nicaraguan cigars. This 100% puro is wrapped in a Nicaraguan leaf, binder is from Ometepe as well as some of the filler. To round out the blend, tobaccos from Esteli and Jalapa were also used. As you smoke the cigar you will pick up notes of earth, leather, some sweetness, and little spice. Overall its a wonderful smoke, has a good draw and burns nice and slow. As I mentioned before if your a fan of Nicaraguan cigars or just a full body smoker this cigar should be in your rotation.

The Aging Room Quattro F55M Espressivo is a rich, full-bodied Dominican box-pressed robusto which takes the hugely successful Quattro F55 and replaces its Sumatra wrapper with a gorgeous, leathery Mexican San Andres wrapper. The combination of a dark Mexican San Andres wrapper with a Dominican Habano binder and Dominican Republic filler represents what a premium cigar should be. When I first saw this stick, its dark coffee bean color gave me the impression it was going to be a strong cigar. The first draw revealed a warm mix of cocoa, earth, cedar, and mocha. I found the Quattro F55M Espressivo to be a solid, full-strength cigar from start to finish. The burn line and burn path remained relatively straight and the resulting ash had a light grey in color with some dark speckling. The ash was also on the firm side and came off the cigar in nice clean chunks. There was plenty to hold my interest in this cigar from beginning to end. This cigar maintained its excellent flavor all the way through. The draw was flawless. I would recommend this stick to experienced cigar enthusiasts. If you are looking for a cigar that emphasizes flavor and strength, the Aging Room Quattro F55M Espressivo was crafted specifically with you in mind.

This is one of my favorites, creamy coffee/espresso in a medium to full body. The box press construction and wrapper make for an excellent looking cigar. This is about an hour and half smoke so give yourself some time to enjoy it. Tastes like a cigar that is much more expensive then it’s actual price.

Wasn’t too sure what to expect from this cigar given its hype and the No.2 rating from CA a few years back. After smoking two Churchill’s, one things for certain, I LOVE this gar! It’s smooth and silky, a hint of sweetness with spicy notes: for some reason it reminds me of cinnamon heart candy. My one negative about this stick: the ash doesn’t hold well and flakes off easily. Bottom line: this cigar is definitely box worthy and I regret not pulling the trigger earlier. A winner.

I had bought a 5pk on a sampler deal from another supplier. Two out of those were great the other 3 so so - But I took a chance and figured a box from Neptune would be much fresher. Wow what a difference. This cigar has a world class draw, The burn is top notch and flavor outstanding. I am stocking a few hundred cigars and this is one of my definite keepers. Really can't say enough nice things about this cigar. Another way I know is I like to share cigars and invite people over to smoke them and this is definitely one of the guest favorites.

This cigar is just another example of the quality and care that Aging Room puts into its products. A nicaraguan puro made at the plasencia factory in Nicaragua, the cigar features tobacco from different regions of Nicaragua and it reflects it in the flavor and intensity. Medium to full in strength this cigar does not fall short in flavor and the construction is flawless. Cedar and leather are the predominant notes with hints of coffee and wood, bold with the right amount of pepper it is the archetype of a nicaraguan puro. My experience was the same as Steve B. There was an astringent taste throughout the cigar. It was briefly interrupted by a nice bread, nutty flavor, but mostly a salty peanut, short, dry, astringent taste. I felt perhaps it was an off example, but the experience by Steve B. makes me think it's not an exception. The construction was very good. A very nice loose draw. No issues with the burn. Just a disappointment given the high review. And, it's a long cigar with a long smoke time. Too long unfortunately for the lackluster experience.

Very enjoyable medium to medium-full stick. Just perfect draw throughout. Due to operator error only the initial light was poor but this beauty self-corrected to a very clean, even burn. As a nightly high end cigar smoker this is one of my favorite smokes. These are medium up front and finish really spicy toward the end. They are not a tight rolled cigar and are usually run little bit on the dry end when I receive them so they need to stay in a 70 humidor for a few days before you smoke them.

Unfortunately this cigar will go away eventually, which is why I bought a box and will probably end up with more as I don't particularly care for the F59, profile is different. The F55 has a very nice peppery taste throughout the duration of the smoke, that doesn't come off as intense but as a smooth spice, which I love that flavor profile. The pepper calms a bit as you get into the middle 1/3rd but is noticeable throughout the duration, with it picking up again as you get towards the band. The pepper is offset by a great coffee/espresso taste that I equate more to a nice cup of black coffee with a shot of cream as a chaser. The construction is solid, nice sheen to the wrapper in the singles I have received as well as those in the box. Lights up easy, always a smooth draw with a nice solid ash. However, the cigars themselves for me they have always been a quicker smoke than other Churchill sized cigars in my collection. The ash sticks like glue until you decide to ash it. Would highly recommend, though I find the 95 rating a bit "high" compared to comparable cigars, but it is a solid high 80's/low 90's rated cigar in my opinion.

I had high expectations for the cigar, unfortunately it fell short. I bought several singles to try this year's most vaunted cigars. The construction is wonderful, with a nice dark chocolate wrapper. Upon lighting, and first puff, the aroma and flavor fell flat. It smelled and tasted like a big cigarette. I could only go through the first few puffs. I lit a reliable My Father after snubbing this one out, and of course, was pleased. The 4 that I still have will sit in my humidor at 67% for a while in the hopes that they will relax.

A 95 from Cigar Aficionado? I have to wonder what else they're smoking. I simply do not see the appeal of this cigar let alone the ultra high rating. For that matter after smoking 5 different Aging Room cigars, I can't see how the brand is still in business. This is an overrated cigar. I'd smoke a Rocky Patel Vintage over this in a heartbeat.

Very good cigar. first third nice woodiness, sweet coffee and spiciness. around second third, leather and sweetness. the last third cedar white pepper, earthiness and leather. Not very complex but tasty.

Perfecr draw. Good burn. At first puff I wasn't too impressed but it kept getting better. Lots of smooth flavor. Not harsh or bitter. I enjoyed it. Very good cigar.

Great cigar. The draw was consistent with a full mouth feel. The first 1/2 was exceptional getting a little spicy in the middle. It smoked perfectly to the end. Good value quality cigar.

An excellent cigar! Only the day before, I had tried one of Drew Estate’s new Nirvana cigars, and I couldn’t help but notice similarities with the Quattro, though of different origin and tobaccos. The Nirvana has a sweeter flavor, as a result of its Cameroon wrapper, but both have the leather, pepper and creamy flavor otherwise. This box press Quattro is in the same league, though less expensive. Well crafted. Slow burn, nice aroma. Mellows as it burns. I think I could fall for this in a larger size so I could enjoy it even longer.

An exceptional cigar! No faults at all other than a slightly tight draw but that may be a one off. Appearance, cold draw, burn, taste development were all first class.

A full but easy to smoke Robusto, not intended for beginners. It starts with a slight acidity, which quickly disappears, giving way to a very creamy cigar with a sweet background, spiced up by vegetal and mineral flavors. All this is topped by a very pleasant aroma, sweet, woody and with a hint of leather. The fact that it is made with Dominican filler and binder is just a sign of how are Dominican cigars addressing the Nicaraguan threat. The only "but" to this cigar could be its Sumatra wrapper…

Third time's a charm. The first two I had ever smoked were both faulty in burn and draw. This third one is beautiful. I have 7 more to smoke and hopefully the first two were strictly bad luck. Complex flavours that change from beginning to end, starting off great and ending fantastic. Very peppery and creamy at the same time. I did have to pay close attention to keep it from going out, but it was worth it. Very enjoyable smoke.

This is a bold cigar with a lot of spice! Couldn't smoke the longer version, Espressivo was enough.

Second one not much better than the first one as far as burn and draw. Had a pinhole in it and the draw was very difficult until I got past it. Had to relight the cigar several times as was the case on the first one. It looks and tastes fantastic, but I am very disappointed in it's draw and burn.

Had to relight this one after the first five minutes. Re-lit it and drew every 20 seconds on average and it went out again. This happened three more times before I discarded it. Flavour and aroma were fantastic. Couldn't enjoy it.

I read lots of reviews here and was pretty sure to find the definitive stick for my evenings, also with the amazing Cigar Aficionado rating. Nonetheless, I have to say that this cigar went not beyond my expectations, revealing itself as an average cigar to be smoked when you have nothing else in your humidor. Too bad I bought a box instead of a bunch of them

Great looking cigar, nice draw, very Smokey. took about 1:15 to finish. good to the end. Dark roasted coffee taste some sweet cedar. I recommend it.

I had very high expectations for this cigar, and it was every bit as good as a Padron 1926 for 1/3 the price. It started out good--with a dry dark chocolate if unexciting beginning. On the second-half burn, however, it came to life with creaminess and body. A great cigar for the money.

I've tasted many highly rated smokes, and without question, hands down the best smoke I've had has been this Aging Room. The taste was amazing and just kept getting better. Latter smoking one and then finding myself comparing all other cigars to this I decided to buy a box. I can't wait to smoke another. You will not be disappointed in this Cigar for sure!!!
