The Fratello Bianco is a medium-strength cigar. It is handmade in the Dominican Republic. A dark Mexican San Andres wrapper surrounds the Bianco’s Dominican binder, which contains a blended filler consisting of USA Broadleaf, Peruvian, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Fratello Bianco has a sweet and spicy profile.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Nice medium strength stick here with a consistent woody profile, and a slight spiciness. Didn't get much sweetness which was just fine. Being on the shorter side, this did quite well for a quick smoke. I've been sampling a few in the Fratello line and have so far been impressed. Overall I enjoyed this, but prefer the profile of the Arlequin.

It is amazing the way different flavors blend together to create a new flavor with different and unique nuances and notes.This is exactly the case with the Fratello Bianco IV, a tobacco from five countries: a Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper, Dominican binder and Nicaraguan, USA Broadleaf and Peruvian fillers. The contrast between the white label and the dark wrapper makes this cigar very attractive to the eye, it smells sweet and woody, kind of like a wet forest. The first puffs smell of pepper and some dark chocolate notes that make my palate rejoice. The first third is all about mocha and cocoa notes. In the second third of the cigar the coffee flavor becomes the star of the show. Kind of salty and sandy and moving forward in strength, at this point it is a full body cigar. It goes from bold to a subtle sweetness that move the chocolate front and center with some steady pepper in the background. The final third continues to display notes of rich chocolate,. The coffee stay around , and the aroma of the cigar is that of wet soil. The pepper continues being an important part on the mix. I would describe the Fratello Bianco IV a complex, satisfying, medium plus to full cigar. Perfect for after dinner with a dry rum or a nice espresso coffee or if you are bold like me, a cup of java mint Tea...or just because Omar like Imperfect Pairings!
