The Diesel Vintage Series Natural is the second release to their Vintage Series line. The Natural’s blend uses vintage Nicaraguan filler leaves that have been for five years. The filler is housed in a Nicaraguan Habano binder and covered by an Ecuadorian natural wrapper. This unique combination of a natural wrapper coupled with vintage tobacco allows the filler’s flavors to become more pronounced. When lit, the cigar’s deep complexity of flavors superbly matches its boldness. The cigars are handmade at the Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
The Esteli region of Nicaragua is well-regarded for producing some of the finest tobacco in the world. Tobacco grown in this area is valued for its aroma, flavor, and strength.

Very firm/hard construction but still with an easy, open draw. Mostly even burn with a few minor touchups needed in the last third. Full bodied and toothy with lots of thick and creamy blue-gray smoke output and flavors of woodsy cedar/pine, spicy black pepper and a hint of warm baking spice sweetness.

I'm not sure if this cigar was a necessary follow up from the MSA vintage series. I love the MSA vintage series. If you're looking for a bold smoke with a strong flavor profile stick with the original.

One of my favorite and got to budget weekday smokes. Mild to medium strength. Spicy start and creaminess throughout. Touch of sweetness towards the middle (can never decide if it’s graham cracker or walnut). Decent for the price.
