A.J. Fernandez has joined forces with master blender Eladio Díaz to create a fresh spin on the Enclave line, the first to be rolled outside of Nicaragua at Díaz’s boutique factory in the Dominican Republic. Díaz is a legendary figure in the cigar world, having spent more than 40 years shaping blends and standards at Davidoff, where he led production and quality control. The Enclave by Eladio Díaz is medium-plus body, delivering a smooth yet intricate profile that reflects the fusion of Fernandez’s boldness with Díaz’s signature elegance.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Corojo wrapper was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo wrapper because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo wrapper has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow binders, because it is located on the Equator and it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type binders to many cigar factory in the world.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

A.J. Fernandez is known for his excellence in tobacco from regions to give you an experience only found with him. Pair that with the masterclass blender Eladio Diaz for this new addition to the Enclave line of cigars. A Corojo '99 leaf (a Cuban Seed known for its resistance to diseases, silky leaves, and cedar rich aroma) wrapping Dominican filler which helps add to the notes of the Corojo wrapper. The first initial start and quarter of the cigar has a peppery spice and coffee note. As we transition into the half way point, the pepper notes subside and give way for a rich mellow and smooth Corojo profile which for me was coffee sweet and earthy. This lasted all the way towards the final quarter where after I removed the band, could taste all the oils piled up and the smoke went from grey to white, giving you a strong finish carrying the same notes of coffee, cedar, and minimal spice. I smoked this toro down to the nub and would recommend it to all fans of AJ Fernandez and his lines of tobacco. This would be a friendly cigar for our mild to medium smokers looking to experiment in the cedar and coffee notes of tobacco, and for my full body smokers to enjoy a smoother medium that finishes like a full body smoke.

Firm construction and open draw with a mostly even burn - only one minor touchup needed. Medium bodied and pretty smooth with lots of nice thick, rich smoke output. Flavors of woodsy oak, leather and toasted nuts.

I think that this cigar will benefit from a few months in the oven. I have had two of them and a totally different experience for both cigars. The second cigar was more flavorful. Not a strong cigar by any means, but i would say this is a perfect early morning cigar.

2nd time enjoying the Enclave Eladio Diaz, this well constructed and well blended leaf. An amazing draw from beginning to end. What is great on these cigars is how well wrapped these cigars are leading to a very even burn. No reason to relight which can obsecure the taste especially during the middle and ending 3rd’s of a fine cigar. Taste notes reminds me of a quality Davidhoff, smooth without prouding that over white peppery taste. There or light sweet hits of fruit without anyone part overpowering. For the price point it gives you the feel of a mid $20’s cigar at half the price. Great value for a very fine cigar.

Wow -- Corojo mellow sweetness! This is another gem from AJ. I've loved his whole line of Enclave sticks over the years.. The Broadleaf churchhill is one of my favorite cigars ever. This one has that strong Corojo bite in the first few puffs, and then mellows out to a nice Corojo sweetness. Doesn't smoke hot like some corojos can. And not as complex as other Corojos. But very delicate and soft flavors of honey, cinnamon, white pepper, and cream. Very smooth. Curious to try a larger ring gauge. Loved it!
