Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Brazil grows tobacco from North to South. The East Central State of Bahia is an important cigar tobacco producer. The growing area is about 100 miles west of the state capital, Salvador da Bahia, an active port on the Atlantic Coast. The Northern State of Alagoas hosts a production around the city of Arapiraca where maduro wrappers are grown. The Southern states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina produce tobacco for cigarettes and pipe.

NeptuneCigar.com This is very high demand cigar that is produced in limited quantities. Drew Estate makes them in very small batches because of the shortage of the tobacco. If you enjoy the Unicos, give the Liga Undercrown or Herrera Esteli Norteno a try.

Completely un-smokable. This was one of my favorite cigars a couple of years ago, so it pains me to write this. Maybe I just got a dud and the tobacco wasn’t sufficiently dried out. I couldn’t even get an inch through it because it kept going out, tunneling and overheating.

Solid offering from Drew Estates. I think with 1 year of age it would be even better. Started off a bit spicy with white peppercorn and cardamom that shifts into sweet raisin bread in the second third. It ends on a great note with caramel and charred wood coming to the forefront. Almost same size as the Cortez from plasencia.

Lots of dark chocolate and other notes of rum and oak as described above. Pepper bite and leather aftertaste. Perfecto shape makes the thick ring gauge enjoyable but had a slightly wavy burn and somewhat tight draw. Little pinch on draw easily fixes it.

One of the most interesting little cigars I've ever had. First off I was expecting a quick 30min smoke....this burnt even straight with a beautiful white ash for 1hr15min! ( I smoke slow but still surprised at this). The flavor was completely different than other cigars I;ve had. Kinda sweet and yeah like red peppers..like a vegetable taste. Would go nicely with a bloody mary I think lol

Hay, black pepper, light roast coffee, touch of custard - super pleasant smoking. I love the lingering flavor bomb that coats my mouth after each puff. It’s such a well-constructed cigar rolled by real artisans. Between No 9, H99, and T52, I think the T52 is probably the best.

This beast feels like a quarter stick of dynamite. Very solid. Hearty, dark wrapper. Medium body. Lots of spice and a little cocoa in the beginning. Then a hint of salt, some earthiness, and smokey tea (specifically Lapsang Souchong, if that means anything to you). Cocoa returns a bit in the end. It’s a good cigar. For my money, though, I’ll take the T52 or No. 9. All day.

Yep, this is a great cigar, everybody knows it and no savvy high-end cigar shop is complete without, though they'll have a tough time keeping it in stock. Every blend from the Liga Privada line has enjoyed enormous celebrity amongst tobacco lovers, and there is no consensus on which is the best. The No.9, the T52, and the H99 all have their devotees and their skeptics, and the only thing about which there is total agreement is that these are some rather expensive, but undeniably special cigars. If you're on the fence, don't be, I know you have $20, and these are spectacular. Let me throw my hat in the ring for the H99, which to me are the most seductive and profound in the series by far. If dark purple were a flavor, the H99 is oozing it from every pore, with big juicy notes of fermented honey, mulled wine, baker's chocolate, black cherry, dried guajillo chili, and a long f#ckoff list of mystical subnotes beyond the grasp of direct perception. If you are not presently salivating, check your surroundings for the sweet sound of harps or the smell of brimstone, for you may be dead. Some reviewers have noted less-than-ideal draw, or construction issues unbefitting a stick with a price point equivalent to a day's wage in many countries, and I agree that there are some duds in the mix, about 1 in 15, having chanced upon a couple myself. Take this as a strong positive statement of quality that these cigars are entirely worth a small gamble in pursuit of great reward. I would proudly offer an H99 to any open-minded connoisseur anywhere and expect a lot of appreciation, these are that good. By contrast, I would be far less confident with a No. 9, which I find a bit underwhelming for all the fanfare, or the T52, which I find to be more unusual and divisive. For lovers of Mexican San Andres wrappers, these are mandatory, some of the finest examples of that terroir you will ever find. I highly recommend trying all of the blends in a bundle and assessing you

Liga Privada, what happened to you? You use to be so awesome when Steve Saka was still with Drew Estate. I have had so many tight draws and inconsistent flavor profiles from cigar to cigar...this never use to be the case. I just got done trying to smoke a T52 Robusto. Hot garbage. Tight draw because it was packed so tight. Canoing. Ok to bad flavors. Take the band off and youd think you have a $6 bundle cigar. I tried to save it with my perfect draw tool...barely helped. Literally threw it away after 10 minutes.

There is a lot of hype around the Flying Pigs. Fair enough, there is nothing out there quite like them, and they also happen to be great cigars with a marvelous depth of flavor. They generally enjoy good construction --though mine have run the spectrum from pristine burns with ash stacking like quarters to wonky burns with draw issues. The thing about this cigar is that it's fun. Fun is a term carefully avoided in connoisseurship, but it's the clearest way of translating the Pig's appeal. It's fat in a way that's vaguely humorous, and its nicotine strength is absolutely astonishing for its size, which only adds to the cartoonish nature of this little cigar which resembles a warhead from Loony Toons with a tail like Porky Pig. The flavor, as you would expect from an oily, dark brown cigar with a huge ring gauge, is a wallop of dense notes of chocolate, black cherries, spice, cognac, and leather delivered in thick plumes of heavy smoke. The No.9 is essentially the flagship pig in the lineup, and it's probably the one you should try first. I didn't care for the T52, the H99 I enjoyed even more, and the 9 sits in the middle for me. There is also an Undercrown maduro 'Pig which is more affordable and nevertheless excellent, definitely more straightforward but with reliably perfect construction and draw -- solidly worthy of investigation for Liga Pig fans wanting to make this a more regular experience without spending $5 an inch. Believe the hype: this is a delicious, attractive, and unusually FUN cigar.

This and the UF 13 are my favorite Liga Unicos. This is a slow burning well packed oily cigar. It took about 1:15 minutes to smoke and I am a relatively fast smoker. Draw was a hair snug but nothing bad. It was rich/creamy flavor profile with various flavor notes including chocolate and nougat. Retrohale was a milk chocolate. Very nice!!!!

At first I couldn't get over the grizzled appearance of this cigar, like the devil's crooked fingers, but once trying it I have to admit that it's delicious and a huge amount of fun to smoke. The shape is a surprisingly affective novelty, funneling the smoke in such a way that the personality of the already excellent tobacco is magnified and exaggerated, and the density and volume of the smoke is made extreme, coming out from both ends in opaque grey clouds. It's about as much fun as you can have with a cigar in under 30 minutes. It doesn't hurt that this stick is made from discarded cuttings of extra-premium Drew Estate tobacco reserved for sticks 3x the price, giving it a singular air of total elegance with equal proportion to its defiant, iconoclastic vibes. This cigar seems to be marketed as somewhat of a cousin to the Drew Estate Papas Fritas, and if you love that stick, as I do, I encourage you to give this strange little creature a try. I was surprised by how different the flavor profile of this stick was from the Papas Fritas, given their loose association in the Unicos line, but the flavors here are also very compelling -- a little more funk, and little darker, even more unique and specific with its cocoa and leather tones that I'm tempted to reach for comparisons to specific cocoa-growing regions and leather-tanning practices, etc. There is certainly nothing like the Nasty Fritas, and it seems to underscore what an awesome and varied line of smokes is coming out of Drew Estate these days. I don't always want a Nasty Fritas, but when I do, it's a perfect diversion that always feels cool and never feels weird, despite how it may at first appear.

Here's a no-brainer: a cigar made of super-high-end tobacco, with flawless construction, made in a size to fit into any occasion, for eight bucks. Where has this been all my life? The whole Liga world is spectacular, but I think I love the H99 best in this small ring gauge where the flavor concentrated to incredible depths. I get plenty of cherry cola, spice, and earth, super full creamy body, relentless quality from end to end. It's a killer flavor profile, and suffering not in the least from being constructed from the would-be discard scraps from the Liga line. The draw and burn are both flawless from the jump, and you will greedily smoke this down to the nub and wish desperately that it was a lancero twice as long. But this is also the perfect short smoke, great for cold weather and an invitation to bathe in luxury in even the small moments. The aroma on this cigar is so seductive that my wife always steals it from me at some point and trades it back and forth with me instead of running away from it, and that's the best indicator you can get in Quality Control.

I really like this cigar. I've smoked all of Liga's lines except for the Aniversario and the UF13 is probably my favorite. Construction was excellent. Burn was pretty good, but became a little wonky at times. Draw was wide open, which I personally like. Lots of black pepper spiciness in the first couple inches. Flavors were a rich mix of cocoa, chocolate, black pepper, raisin, BBQ char and toasty notes, subtle anise, earthy notes and various spices. Pretty much full body, strength and flavor right from the first puff. Produces a lot of smoke like all of Liga's cigars. It is a little pricey for a robusto but I definitely recommend trying it at least once.

I waited a while to get my hands on the cigar. Much like other Liga Privada the supply was limited and there was lots of hype surrounding the stick. Picked up a few let them sit for about a month in my humidor and took the opportunity to smoke one last night. I enjoyed the cigar. But I feel for the price paid for this cigar there are other cigars out there that are not as expensive as this one that had the same kind of profile and taste. In fact I think the No. 9 is a better cigar than this one. But it's relative, this cigar is outstanding, well made, good looking, great burn, good flavor. I just feel like you7can get the same from cigars about 5 or 6 dollars less than this one.

The appearance of this cigar was done with TLC. The feel of the leaf was like dried velvet. The draw was just OK. Burn was steady and even. Only had to light once. Aroma was full and enveloping. Taste was dried dark cocoa on the tongue, black coffee on the retro and an oily breadcrumb/nuttiness left on the aftertaste. Unique is an understatement. Eliu was on point with this recommendation! Will be purchasing more

TheseLiga Privadas are so hit and miss these days. The front half of this cigar was so nice with notes of cream, sweetness, wood and spice. Then the second half was almost devoid of flavors at all. Front half was an "A" and back-half was a "C-". Construction was pretty good with a good draw and slightly uneven burn that did require a few minor touch-ups.

This is a great cigar when you get a good one. I have smoked countless No. 9s in various sizes. In the past few years I've noticed the quality of the construction and flavor can vary greatly from cigar to cigar. The draw can be very tight to wide open, it's a roll of the dice. The flavor can sometimes be muted and off. However, when you get a good one they are truly excellent with notes of chocolate, earth, caramel, white and black pepper and anise. I just wish they were more consistent.

I have smoked countless No. 9s in various sizes. In the past few years I've noticed that both the construction quality and flavor can be extremely inconsistent and varies wildly from cigar to cigar. It's a roll of the dice if the draw will be very tight or wide open and if the flavors will be amazing or muted. The best ones are excellent, for sure. The good ones have notes of chocolate, earth, caramel, white and black pepper and anise and are mouth watering. The bad ones can be muted and unbalanced. I just wish they were more consistent but when you get a good one they are excellent.
