Platinum Nova Cigars

Platinum Nova Cigars is a family owned and operated company dedicated to creating premium cigars that honor the memory of the family’s grandfather, a master blender, who imparted his love of cigars and the art of cigar crafting to his family. The cigars are made using the finest vintage tobaccos that have been carefully aged from 10 to 15 years. They are handmade in the Dominican Republic by an experienced and dedicated team of cigarmakers. Once rolled, the cigars are set in Spanish cedar vaults for three years. This highly specialized aging process is what gives Platinum Nova cigar their unique balanced and distinct flavors.

Because of a very hot and sunny summer, the tobacco is shade grown to make the leaf more delicate with few veins and even surface. Connecticut Shade wrapper grown in the United States has a mild to medium flavor and a silky quality, making it one of the most expensive and sought-after cigar wrappers in the cigar industry.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Costa Rica Habano tobacco is a Cuban-seed tobacco that is grown in Costa Rica, and it is fermented using traditional Cuban methods. The tobacco is highly regarded for its Cubanesque flavor and aroma.

H2000

Habana 2000 or H2000, is a hybrid between El Corojo, Cuba's standard wrapper leaf last cultivated in the 90s, and a cigarette tobacco called Bell 61-10. Cuban cigar growers crossed these two tobaccos in order to get a wrapper leaf that would be more resistant to disease than the Corojo was. Although its introduction was controversial and the leaf was not widely accepted, its quality has improved over time and it is now being cultivated with success outside of Cuba as well.

I was NOT expecting a sweetened cap, but that's on me for not reading the description! However, it was not overpowering and didn't detract from the experience. The cigar presents itself well with golden Connecticut wrapper and turquoise bands. The flavors are decidedly Dominican which wouldn't be unfamiliar to those who enjoy Davidoff or Arturo Fuente. In essence, mild but flavorful with notes of wood, bread, and cream. Construction was not an issue with no weird burning, and extra points awarded for the slightly firm draw. Will definitely be ordering more of these!
