This cigar celebrates Rocky Patel's 10 years in the industry. Well balanced and spicy, the Decade has been touted as the best of all Rocky Patel blends. The cigars are box pressed, dark and very good-looking. This cigar uses premium tobaccos from Nicaragua, Ecuador and Honduras. Rated 95 by Cigar Insider.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado maduro wrapper is milk chocolate brown.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Eric Is this case already seasoned in any way? Or does this case not require seasoning even though it is cedar?

Call me crazy, but I prefer the Robusto size. Same great flavors, with the exception of the final third. Picked up heavier on some toast/ rich tobacco flavors and lost some of the butter/ toffee notes I had from the other 2/3. Required a few touch ups on the burn.

Every now and then you pick up a cigar that you don’t expect much just to be blown away by how amazing of a smoke it is. The Rocky Patel Decade Torpedo was that cigar for me. I was going to pick up my usual A.L.R but decided to try this one as I had never smoked it before and what a pleasant surprise this was. This cigar was crafted to exemplify the quality and craftsmanship for which Rocky Patel is renowned and as a tribute to the brand’s 10th anniversary. As soon as I lit it up I was pleasantly surprised with multiple notes and a beautiful aroma. The cigar gave me earthy and woody notes, complemented by a peppery spice that lingers on the palate but is short lived. The draw was incredibly smooth, producing thick, creamy smoke with each puff. As the cigar progresses, hints of coffee and leather emerged, adding depth to the flavor profile making it impossible to put down. Towards the end of the cigar the flavors intensified, with the earthiness and coffee notes becoming more pronounced and the spice completely disappearing which was a huge plus for me. If you like medium to full-bodied smokes I highly recommend giving this a try and I am certain it will become a staple in your humidor as it has in mine.

Good smoke. Good flavor and good draw. It has a nutty, coffee, and cinnamon flavor that is enjoyable but not overpowering. It has a medium to medium/full body.

Leather, Pepper, and a sour tang on my lips and tip of my tongue after exhaling. But it kind of got a little grungy toward the end. A little tight at first, but the geometry allowed me to clip it down a little further and open it up to where I wanted it. Perfectly even burn. Ash held on like a champ. Beautiful looking cigar. Rich colorado-maduro color. Exceptionally smooth wrapper, expertly applied.

I've smoked a handful of these. The first was a torpedo n the rest toros. They were all excellent. This torpedo was my first and it really grabbed me. Good looks nicely constructed full draw and nice taste n aroma. I did need to touch up the burn at times. The first seemed real strong but I was a novice at the time. This latest had time to season in the humidor and seemed much smoother. It is a bit pricey esp compared to other RP's which offer plenty of examples that are cheaper but comparatively excellent. If you dont mind the price tag tho this is an excellent cigar.

Great way to start your morning when you can relish the creaminess of this lovely cigar. The ash fell off around an inch or so into the cigar. At the end the cigar quit on me which left some bitterness when attempting to revive my hopeful expectations of a grand finish.

I bought this about a year ago and forgot about it. It is smoking beautifully right now. As smooth as can be. Vanilla and coffee aromas when lit. Cream, toffee, medium pepper, vanilla, leather, dried fruit flavors. Great, effortless draw. Good burn. Soft box press shape feels great in hand. A great cigar all around. End of the first third and I'm starting to get some corn meal flavors, almost like friend tortillas.

Great cigar, but the 15yr is better. Wrapper is beautiful as is the band. Draw was perfect. The aroma was plesant. The cold draw was a taste of rasin and chocolate. Upon lighting the cigar I get a nice light chocolate undertone. This cigar is fantastic but the 15yr is better.

Little bit disappointed by this stick. Burn was really bad and I had to keep fixing it and by the 2nd third I had to keep relighting it. The wrapper seems very thick and oily which probably caused the burn problems. The taste was good tho. Very creamy and rich and lots of smoke. Wouldn't race to buy another

It is hard to quantify a ‘sampler pack’ with a single review, so my above scores reflect what I feel is an average. This sampler pack came packaged beautifully, with a Boveda pack sealed inside. However, the Boveda pack was rock solid, meaning it had been dried out for quite some time. I think the protective tubes did their job quite effectively though, because the cigars were still in relatively good shape. Overall, I would recommend these to a friend just for the sheer novelty aspect of them. Plus, cigars that come in their own tubing travel well, and what’s to stop someone from reusing those tubes?

This cigar had a wonderful pre-light aroma, a surprisingly soft feel (i.e. lightly packed filler), and a beautiful box-pressed look and feel. Post toast, the most noteworthy thing about this cigar was the billowing clouds of smoke that came off the foot and huge, effortless mouthfuls of smoke! The first third started off with light to medium bodied flavors of leather, hay and hints of nutmeg. Into the second third, there were flavors of toasted oak and a significant pepperiness. This cigar required a LOT of attention to keep it burning. Even with that in mind, and making a conscious effort to keep it warm, I still ended up relighting it four times. (My friend that I was having the same cigar with had the exact same experience.) Overall, if you like a cigar with tons of smoke and some rather peppery notes, you'll love this one... IF... you can keep it burning!

What a beautiful box pressed cigar to celebrate Rocky's 10th anniversary with a nice mix of tobaccos from Nicaragua, Honduras and Ecuador. This cigar starts off with woody and leather notes along with a good amount of smoke. This cigar is a consistent medium bodied smoke well into the cigar with a nice creamy texture. The draw and burn was superb producing loads of thick smoke. Towards the final third a bit of nutiness comes through but still mostly leather and woody notes. The consistent medium body of this cigar was very pleasant. I can definitely see why this cigar has very high rankings!! With the nice dark and oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, this decade will catch your attention.
