Since its first release the Cohiba brand created a name for itself by delivering superbly made premium cigars and making "firsts". The Cohiba Riviera is no exception. It is the first Cohiba to sport a Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper, and it is the first to be offered in a box-pressed shape. Underneath its mouthwatering dark wrapper is a Honduran-grown Connecticut binder and a filler composed of Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves. The blend uses proprietary tobacco that comes from Jamastran and La Entrada in Honduras, as well as Esteli and Condega in Nicaragua. These are top premium tobacco growing regions in their respective countries. The Cohiba Riviera is named after the region in the San Andres Tuxtla Valley where this exquisite wrapper’s tobacco is grown. The cigars are handmade in Nicaragua.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

General Cigar Company manufactures premium cigars in several factories located in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Founded by Edgar Cullman, Sr. in 1960, the company experienced incredible success with their Macanudo brand. After a series of acquisitions throughout the years that made General Cigars one of the largest cigar manufacturers in the world, the company merged with Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) in 2010.

This is a nice smoke, the burn is a little off, and taste is a little too mild, but the cost is way to high for the singles, but overall and good smoke...I feel the name is the reason for the high cost...

Was excited to try this cigar but did not meet my expectations. The blend sounds amazing but doesn't live up to it's variety. I would like to revisit this but perhaps in a larger ring gauge to see if the blend is less compromised.

Easy light and draw. Burns evenly. Good smoke production. Nice mix of chocolate, coffee bean, and leather. Slight mint on the lips. Flavors consistent throughout. Slight pepper on retro but acceptable. Decent cigar, but there are far better at this price point.

Really good stick at a descent price. Creamy sweet fruity flavors a lot more rich than other Cohibas. Good draw and burn also. The downside and I'm guessing why it is on the cheaper side for Cohibas is it had a fast burn and a bit of a flaky ash compared to others

Was hesitant due to the price but man, that virgin draw was full of chocolate and cinnamon. That flavor lasted for the first half then switched to raisins, dry fruits and cinnamon for the last half. Draw was perfect. Burn was very good and almost even. Never had to re-light. Even with 5 minutes intervals. Will definitely buy again. It may be box worthy.

The chocolate really stands out in this one. I usually drink bourbon or whiskey with my cigars, but I was recommended to drink coffee with this and it was amazing!

This cigar is extremely smooth. Zero harshness from beginning to nub. Flavors are hard to describe, but subtle and consistent thru the entire cigar. No pepper unless you retrohale. Again the keyword is, SMOOTH. Priced a bit high, but it is well aged tobacco, which comes at a premium. Not a flavor bomb, just smooth and elegant smoke. Not too strong or dark tasting either.
