The Illusione Allegria is considered the sister cigar to the Illusione OneOff. In fact, before it was part of Illusione’s “Book of Brands,” it was called the OneOff Allegria when first released in 2004. “Allegria” is Italian for “cheerfulness,” and this medium-strength premium cigar was made to turn any frown upside down with its next-level flavor. The Allegria sports a warm and inviting Honduran natural wrapper that expertly cloaks a Nicaraguan binder and a filler composed of Aganorsa Leaf tobaccos including the Viso Corojo 2006, which marks the first time Illusione has used this fairly potent tobacco in one of its blends. Handmade in Nicaragua, the Illusione Allegria truly captures the essence of Nicaraguan tobacco.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Honduran cigar wrapper has the reputation of great quality, with wrapper leaf being grown in the Jamastran, Talanga and San Agustin valleys. Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Its about time I got around to reviewing an Illusione cigar. This has been one of my favorite brands for a long time, and when I saw that a new blend hit our stores I just had to try it. The Allegria is a sister brand to OneOff, another Illusione line that both don the peace sign on the band of their cigars. The Illusione Allegria Robusto is a Nicaraguan cigar, with a Honduran wrapper that delivers both character and balance in a medium-full bodied profile. From the first draw, it opens with lively notes of cedar, toasted nuts, and a touch of natural sweetness, quickly followed by peppery spice that keeps the palate engaged without being overwhelming. I found the draw to be a little tight in the beginning, but eventually I was puffing big billows of train exhaust like smoke a quarter of the way through. Despite its golden tan wrapper, this cigar packs a little bit of a punch. A nice medium-full experience once you get past the first quarter of this stogie with notes of black pepper, cedar and a little bit of salted caramel. The burn was very consistent, no touch-ups needed or relighting. This is another fantastic release from Illusione and it paired well with a black coffee with a little bit of sugar while I was doing my fantasy football draft. Another worthy addition to my roster of monthly picks. Don't sleep on this one.

Started a bit tight with a punch cut but after I chased it with a v-cut it opened up to a nice draw with an even consistent burn. Sweet and floral with spice kicking in on the back half made for a delicious smoke.
