Pretty good Smoke! I definitely enjoyed it
James C.05/23/2026About: Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade Robusto 5" * 50
Firm construction; ring size is 50 and not 54 as listed; open draw and even burn with no touchups needed. Mild with nice thick creamy smoke output and flavors of oak and leather, but with some salty/sourness that mellowed out in the last half.
William L.05/13/2026About: Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade Robusto 5" * 50
The Macanudo Inspirado Ecuadorian Shade Robusto delivers far more flavor than most people expect from a lighter bodied cigar. From the moment I lit it up, it unleashed a barrel of flavor that honestly caught me off guard. The opening third came out swinging with rich cedar and deep woody notes right away, backed by a smooth nuttiness lingering quietly in the background. It was balanced, flavorful, and surprisingly layered for a cigar that leans on the milder side. As the cigar moved into the second half, the profile started building a little more strength and character. The retrohale introduced a subtle pepper note that gave the blend a nice kick without overpowering the experience. It added just enough spice to wake up the palate while still allowing the woody core and nutty undertones to remain the stars of the show. The transition felt natural and well-controlled rather than aggressive. By the final third, the pepper began to settle down, though it still lingered enough to remind you it was there. The cigar became creamier and smoother toward the finish, delivering dominant woody flavors mixed with light nutty notes and a soft creaminess that rounded everything out beautifully. It closed in a relaxed and satisfying way that made me want to keep smoking it down to the nub. This is absolutely a cigar I would pair with a good Scotch or a glass of aged rum. I’d especially recommend it to someone looking for a lighter-bodied smoke that still has complexity and plenty of flavor to keep things interesting from start to finish.
