If you talk to people who have been in the tobacco business for a long time, they will tell you one thing. There is only one true master: the tobacco itself. They are its students or disciples. The Rocky Patel Disciple serves as a reminder to cigar crafters and aficionados that the tobacco, how its blended and rolled is what determines the cigar smoker’s enjoyment. Composed of an All-Nicaraguan filler and binder, the Disciple sports an eye-catching, palate-pleasing, oily Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper and delivers a flavorful and invigorating medium to full-bodied smoking experience. The Rocky Patel Disciple is handmade in Nicaragua.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Personal favorite of mine. Cocoa taste throughout the entire burn. Little hint of caramel after the first half. Moderate pepper spice as well. Excellent burn and construction. Always have a place for a few of these because they were the first cigar that I absolutely LOVED.

This is an absolutely amazing looking stick & not my first nor last! Down the wrapper I'm getting faint barnyard & leather.. at the foot I'm getting some light hay with a grassy note.... the dry-draw provides some light Graham cracker these tastes are making me want to rush to the smoking room & toast!! I'm greeted with oak on the draw with a light pepper spice on the quite smooth retrohale... my recollection tells me that the smoothness of aged tobbacco was anticipated however in this stick the body is definitely down a few notches as it stands right now it's a "light to medium body & any strength has yet to be determined This is a fantastic smoke leather oak& the retrohale is beautiful just a whisper of spice. I'm not detecting the bump of sweetness that I was hoping to get but the kiss of spice is very enjoyable! The kiss of spice has amped up through the retrohale As the cigar psees from the 2nd third into the final third... The cigar remains incredibly smooth & well blended The smoke is light & airy as I venture into the final third I'm picking up a liht but spicy citrus mote most prevalent through thr retrohale The ash has been white and flaky but still retains its shape as it falls off in about 3/4 to 1" chunk This is an enjoyable smoke anytime of the day for me this differed from my fitst: "Rocky Patel" DISCIPLE insofar as: the body seemed almost muted down from a medium-full to a mild-medium body & the strength was really not detected... Yes! I will smoke this again & I'm in anticipation when the time comes!! Another month in the Humidor is my thinking ..?

what a great cigar! I was really surprised at how good it was. Not to say rocky makes bad cigars but i am so stuck on the decade and the edge. I think this cigar has topped those cigars for me. Great notes of chocolate, caramel, a slight nutiness, espresso. Truly a good cigar with some complexity to it. A must try.

Easy and approachable for a maduro. This can be a good entry for someone moving from lighter cigars. For a little guy, the burn was longer than I expected around 30-40 min. Overall, a pretty good smoke.
