Laranja Reserva Cigars owe its name to the Portuguese word for "orange", as in the orange-color Brazilian wrapper that is used to make this premium cigar. Espinoza cigars makes this cigar by hand in their Nicaraguan factory, using a wrapper leaf from the region of Reconcavo, Brazil. The flavorful and fragrant wrapper is paired with robust fillers from Nicaragua.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Brazil grows tobacco from North to South. The East Central State of Bahia is an important cigar tobacco producer. The growing area is about 100 miles west of the state capital, Salvador da Bahia, an active port on the Atlantic Coast. The Northern State of Alagoas hosts a production around the city of Arapiraca where maduro wrappers are grown.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

It really does have an orange rind type flavor along with some pepper. It can be slightly harsh, especially in the first half. The second half is creamier and reminds me a little of an orange creamsicle. Overall it's just an okay cigar, not really my cup of tea.

This is a nice looking cigar with a toothy medium brown wrapper. The construction was excellent. Draw was a little tight but still good. The burn line was pretty sharp overall. As another reviewer said, it produces a ton of smoke. It just pours off the foot. The first third was very creamy and had a prominent black peppercorn flavor along with a citrus note that reminded me of orange rind. It was medium spicy but had an uncanny similarity to the actual flavor of black peppercorn. The second third had all the flavors of the first third just in different intensities. There was added notes of nuttiness, woodiness and baking spices. In the final third the black peppercorn note became more subtle but was definitely still there. The citrus note was constant throughout the entire cigar. I found it to be medium in body and strength, maybe a touch over. There is absolutely no chocolate or cocoa notes. Just nice creamy notes of black peppercorn, citrus and nuttiness that I really enjoyed. Overall, an excellent cigar.

I waited to try to try this twice before reviewing it. The first time I found it had notes of lemon cleaner. The second time was underwhelming and had notes of white pepper, paper, and minerals. I've never tasted the orange notes that other reviews have observed. I think the name just resonated instead.

Draw was a little tight in the start but did open up. Burn was perfect. Smoke output was moderate, little thin in spots. Flavors were smooth with some nice transitions, 2/3 was the sweet spot. I had smoked this in the robusto extra and it was amazing, this size was not as good but still enjoyable. Smoke time was 1 hour and 10 minutes

Pre-Light draw: Sweet wood, graham cracker, chocolate. 1/3: Lots of red pepper right at the start with generic sweetness, cedar, butter and marshmallow. Perfect draw and razor sharp burn. 1st ash dropped just under 40 minutes in. 2/3: Lots of soft, rich and creamy smoke. More sweetness with spice on the retrohale. Also tasted sugar cane, milk and some orange. 3/3: Strong almond paste flavor with more sweet wood. Final ash drops 1 hour and 10 minutes in. Final smoke time 1 hour and 25 minutes. I tried to find an area to fault this cigar on and I couldn’t come up with one. It is near perfect! Very unique flavor profile, unlike anything I had smoked before. Already ordered a few more and I imagine a box will follow. Definitely will be keeping it in my rotation. MUST TRY!

Freshman rolled makes it hard to consider buying more considering other reviews experiences similar issue indicate it may be a consistent issue with future purchase. The the first puff or two of the is fairly mild, it’s only a matter of seconds before the next puffs start to deliver some spicy pepper on the front of half of the tongue, while the nose gets a steadily building amount of spice and pepper via retrohales and even from the smoke. By the time the burn line has reached the one inch mark, a good amount of that pepper has faded, leaving a slightly creamy and sweet base flavor that shows a hint of orange Creamsicle, but without any artificial flavoring to it and a pinch of lingering pepper that sits on the tongue after the smoke is blown from the mouth.

A decent smoke, but at least a dollar too much. Medium citrus notes. Nice smoke. I don't think I'll buy another. But might be right up for alley if instead of a darker flavor cigar you are looking for a lighter flavor profile. Not to say it is thin in flavor. It has lots of flavor, but the citrus profile makes it the opposite of a Padron, if that makes sense.

My first experience was so poor that I put these aside in the humidor for four months before trying again. My patience rectified some of the issues but not others. Bad news first... this is a poorly constructed cigar only the band saves it from 2 stars. It is loose and uneven and is clearly so to the touch. I finally was able to experience the orange component both pre light and during the smoke. However, this unique component does not shine through and cannot save this cigar from my review which, based on the hype, is disappointing. Larnja is terribly overpriced and is more of a $5 cigar than a $10 one. Try one on the rare occasion you want something different from the buffet but as a staple it falls well short. 86

First thing you'll notice is the draw. It like inhaling on a hollow tube. A bit disconcerting. However, it a good, clean burn. I tried this in the morning with my cup of coffee. I would say it is more of an afternoon or evening cigar. That aside, it's very well constructed, with a full flavor beginning with the start of the second 1/3. Lots and lots of white smoke. Make sure you enjoy it downwind from the person next to you. I would definitely buy it again. An enjoyable smoke, but again, one for later in the day with my glass of cognac.

At first glance, one can tell that this is going to be an exquisite cigar. With bright orange banding, including a cloth footer, this stogie isn't afraid to make a statement prior to even being lit! Fortunately, the smoking experience does not disappoint; the smoker is greeted with an ever-so-slight burst of pepper immediately after lighting, followed by a nice blend of almond and wood notes that last virtually for the entire remainder. What makes this box-pressed beauty special, however, is the constant citrus undertone detectable throughout. It is never intrusive, but excellently balanced and present just enough to let this cigar live up to its namesake. Highly recommended.

A full-bodied smoke with hints of citrus throughout. This stick was powerful with strong flavor all the way up until the band where the flavor and power mellowed out and became a smoother and creamier flavor. The draw on this smoke was a little too tight for my taste, which lead to an ash that struggled to stay together. Overall I rate this cigar 8/10.
