They are left to age at Chateau Fuente until their release at the end of the year. The maduro wrapped cigar is a rarity in the Hemingway series, only the best aged Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper goes into the production of each of these cigars.

The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
