In 2015, L’Atelier released Côte d'Or as a limited project using some coveted Pelo de Oro from the Garcia’s farms and the result was extremely special. This year they are once again creating a limited vitola using Pelo de Oro from the Garcias. The naming of the Côte d'Or project pays homage to the famed Burgundy wine growing region in France known for growing Pinot Noir, one of the most temperamental grape varietals. Pelo de Oro is a very temperamental tobacco plant, requiring a lot of hands on care and it is also extremely subjective to the environment in which it is grown. With both Pelo de Oro and Pinot Noir, the yields are low, but the resulting products are very special. Côte d'Or, which translates roughly to “Gold Coast” made for a classic name given the translation of Pelo de Oro as “Hair of Gold” and the similarities between growing Pinot Noir and Pelo de Oro. Sancti Spiritus is a hybrid of Criollo and Pelo de Oro. This year, the team at L’Atelier decided to use a mid priming

KC Johnson, who represents the L’Atelier cigar brand, named the L’Atelier Roxy cigar in memory of his dog Roxy, who passed away in 2023. The Roxy cigars come in two distinct wrappers: the Original uses a delicious Ecuadorian Sancti Spiritus wrapper, and the Maduro uses a mouthwatering Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. According to KC, “Some would say that the idea of having two blends in a box was because she was phantom, it also could be because she had two different personalities.” Regardless of which version you choose to smoke, the Roxy offers a delicious smoking experience that will have you coming back for more. KC Johnson is also the older brother of Pete Johnson of Tatuaje cigars.
