La Mission, launched in 2015, is the most full bodied release of L'atelier, using a Mexican San Andres wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The blend also includes Sancti Spiritus leaf in the filler, a tobacco grown by the Garcia family in Nicaragua. La Mission is handmade in the Garcia's factory, My Father Cigars.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Maduro
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).
Wrapper
Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

A really great smoke. I’m always drawn to a San Andres Maduro. The stick itself is not overly attractive. The draw and burn were near perfect. The aroma filled the air with a thick leathery tobacco smoke. It tastes of rich leather, wood, and subtle spice. I never tasted any sweetness that some experience. For me this was a medium-full profile. It was just a really nice smoke that I would recommend to anyone.

The awesome flavor is what ruined my everyday sticks because of the hundreds of cigars I have resting in my humidor nothing can even come close to matching the fantastic deep rich flavors!! This Tatuaje cigar was really good overall. The construction was on point as was the draw. The initial taste was very heavy on peppery spice which was just a tiny bit off-putting but it smoothed out quickly into some leathery, slightly creamy and nutty flavors which were very enjoyable. The burn was a bit uneven and needed a relight after sitting for just a minute or so halfway through it. I was surprised that there was no harshness even down to a little nub. Would buy again.

What little of it I could taste and smell was lovely. But the construction was terrible and despite some gentle perfecdraw surgery and a twisted clumps of tobacco pulled out of the head, I accepted defeat. It was unsmokeable. Unrolled it once I gave up and found 4 huge stems in there that were the issue. Shame.

Flawless construction and feels good in the hand. Love the box press. Lots of pepper flavors as usual with Pete Johnson. But by no means a one-dimensional stick. Might mellow out with some time in the humidor, but very complex and enjoyable as-is.

I have burned through a number of the 5 5/8" version, went with the longer profile and realized this is the size that portends best. Immaculate in appearance, high quality perfect roll, tons of bountiful smoke. The flavor has my intrigue.. I know I am tasting the Sancti Spiritus unique flavor in this beauty..and I like it. I am also pleased and impressed by Nicaraguan profile that is my preferred strong composition. The cigar needs a couple of weeks of humidor rest which magnifies the flavor of the fermentation success of the creator. There is a subtle sweetness that clearly enhances the cigar overall. This is an incredible cigar and it places above 90 in my view. Very excellent cigar.. do not smoke it rapidly! Savor this exceptional cigar with your time and let a good ash form before you judge this honey, tremendous cigar with a wide range of varying flavors! Highly exceptional!

Finally bought three for a first try. The unique appearance, construction, and the roll were all perfect. I lose my sense of smell once I light up so the dry presence and that aroma is what I rate at tops, with all aspects. This is clearly a full flavored bold cigar and I discovered a flavor that I have not yet experienced before. The cigar burns slowly for its size! Good! The ash is fine and dusty and it holds well. am sure that the Sancti Spiritus was what surprised me as new and very very good. The outer wrap is the Mexican beauty San Andres and it all comes together to become a thrilling and highly individual work of art. So, I'm hooked, will buy more! I see this fine cigar in the 92 to 95 range. Incredible cigar, just outstanding! Highly recommended for an experienced cigar smoker!

My favorite cigar with wine pairings. Robust full flavor profile with a sweet earthy wrapper with a touch of dark chocolate. A slight hint of pepper on retrohale only. as you progress thru this beauty, the earthiness is still there but, you pick up some spicy meat like intensity. Not overwhelming, just noticeable. You grab some nuttiness towards the end. the interesting thing with this cigar is that you pick up so much more with a slight retrohale once in a while. Trust me, if you like pairing wine with your cigars, you will be denying yourself a lot if you don't grab a fiver at least of these precious little gems. It's smoothness and transition tells me it smokes like a medium / full but, she can knock you around just a bit. Call it rough love.

This is a great stick by the blending team behind L' Atelier cigars which includes well known cigar superstar Pete Johnson (famous for his Tatuaje cigars), his brother K.C., and his 2 friends Dan Welsh and Sean Johnson. These guys say they were inspired by robust wines when coming up with this intense cigar, which is being handmade by Pepin Garcia and his family in Esteli, Nicaragua. The bold flavor of this cigar comes from the rare Sancti Spiritus tobacco in the filler, wrapped with a Nicaraguan binder and one of my favorite cigar wrappers, the earthy San Andres Mexican leaf which imparts the smoke with chocolatey goodness. As with most of My Father cigars, the stick starts peppery then mellows out quickly to an earthy flavor. Lovely cigar that goes very well with an aged dark rum.

I have smoked several of the L'Atelier cigars and was looking forward to this smoke...it did not disappoint. As expected with any Pete Johnson creation this is a special smoke, medium to full bodied with a nice aroma and solid ash, it burned consistent throughout the smoke. I have been wanting to try this cigar for a long time-- big Pete Johnson fan! This cigar is a beautiful box pressed veiny rustic looking smoke with a San Andrés wrapper, Nicaraguan tobacco. This line was inspired by a French winery known for full bodied wines-- hence this cigar to match perfectly. Love the pigtail top! The first third starts off with notes of pepper, chocolate, coffee and a bit of sweetness. Creaminess pops in at the second third along with some fruity notes. There is a huge array of different notes going on. Cedar also becomes very noticeable. This cigar has a great deal of complexity in the second third into the final third. Very good balance! Starts off med bodied and ends up becoming full bodied. Into the last third , notes of chocolate, spice, coffee and almost a toasty note is apparent. Great cigar, complex, keeps you wanting more! Construction is perfect-- well worth the price.
