The JFR Lunatic Habano was made specifically for brick and mortar cigar shops (“JFR” stands for Just for Retailers). The Lunatic is a nod to the fact that it comes in big fat ring gauges that range from 52 to 80, but you don’t have be crazy to enjoy this budget-friendly stick. The JFR Lunatic Habano is handmade in Esteli, Nicaragua by Aganorsa Leaf, formerly known as the TABSA factory, which is owned by famed cigar entrepreneur Eduardo Fernandez. The JFR Lunatic Habano features a natural Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that is draped over a Nicaraguan binder and filler that uses the Aganorsa Leaf. The JRF Lunatic Habano is a medium-bodied cigar that has a nutty flavor profile, which is accented with notes of coffee.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Looks like an impressive cigar. It's got that signature Aganorsa tight draw that'll either open up and get better or stay restricted and burn issues ensue. Starts out with nice taste that developed into one note peppery spice before the halfway point.

As Prince once said... "Let's go crazy". Or in this case, Lunatic. JFR introduces the Lunatic Habano Hombre Libre. This brand has been known lately for their larger ring gauges, but I feel better at home with a more traditional size, so the Hombre Libre fit the bill perfectly. At first light, you are introduced to some earthy notes and hints of coffee. Some spicy notes are also introduced in the beginning, and the draw so far is great. The delicious aroma also made me like the cigar that much more. At the halfway point, the notes mellow down a bit, but not that much, and a small hint of nutty notes are now present in the background too. For me, it made the experience that much better. The spicy notes are still present throughout, and towards the end of the cigar, the strength does go up a bit to make it more of a medium-full cigar. Just to intensify the notes on this cigar even further, I recommend enjoying this cigar with a nice Cuban coffee on the side. Overall, the JFR Lunatic Habano Hombre Libre is a super solid, rich and tasty Nicaraguan offering that you would have to be absolutely crazy to pass up.

I have reordered this box twice now as I have found it to be just what I’m looking for. It is strong enough yet doesn’t have an overpowering smell... it burns smooth from start to finish and if you sit it down and relight an hour later you pick right back up, no harsh taste.

Excellent cigar for the price tag! When I snipped it it cracked n unravelled a bit which the cigar glue fixed. I highly recommend the cigar glue by the way my small vial has rescued many a cigar. Delicious and creamy. Lasted me a good hour n half despite the short size. I love the taste n aroma. Hit me as medium in strength. Def worth coming back to and having one in the humidor rotation.

Dont let the name fool you. The Lunatic is not that crazy! I was going to grab a nice strong smoke because i was in the mood for that and thought lets try this! Its a mild body and mild flavor smoke with a big ring size! If it was smaller id like this for a breakfast smoke. but for the price its great I would buy again but just remember its a very mild smoke

Lovely little cigar. Only a slight issue with the wrapper cracking. The last three JFR cigars I had all cracked. The other two splits were much worse but those cigars were much larger in ring size.

I don’t know how to describe it but let’s say that I really wanted a fat cigar that I could fell in love with;) This wasn’t it. The wrapper on both that I smoked split as soon as I lit up. I guess it is okay if you don’t mind nursing your cigar. I would rather not.

Love the Aganorsa leaf. Love the lunatic line though some may say they are a bit phallic I still enjoy them. El Chiquito is nice enjoyable smoke. I prefer Maduro over habano. 2 thumbs up

A good budget smoke. Was not wowed by the taste or the aroma, but for the price you can not go wrong. Aganorsa doesn't make bad cigars, some are just better than others.

Great looking wrapper, tastes and burns great, nice spicy taste to it , and the coffee taste really comes through as the dominant notes for this. This tastes like a much more expensive cigar, it is a great value, can be a every day stick.

Good cigar. This thing literally tastes like a jar of red pepper or cayenne smells. Very pronounced pepper notes all throughout. Outstanding little stick.

Very impressive small cigar! Loads of strength and flavor at an extremely reasonable price. I get a lot of dark notes of pepper and coffee. Very enjoyable. It earned the #7 rank for 2018 and got 93 points from Cigar Aficionado for a reason.
