Voted Best of the Best in 2016 Robb Report, the Davidoff Escurio is a Brazilian-inspired smoke made with dark Mata Fina sun grown tobacco and Cubra tobaccos from Brazil. The cigar is sweet and spicy with notes of oak, liquorice, salt, leather and coffee. This luxurious cigar will captivate your senses.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

Brazil
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Brazil grows tobacco from North to South. The East Central State of Bahia is an important cigar tobacco producer. The growing area is about 100 miles west of the state capital, Salvador da Bahia, an active port on the Atlantic Coast. The Northern State of Alagoas hosts a production around the city of Arapiraca where maduro wrappers are grown. The Southern states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina produce tobacco for cigarettes and pipe.
Filler
Brazil
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Brazil produces rich, medium to strong, dark tobaccos with a sweet taste and aroma. Most of the cigar production is concentrated on the eastern coast of Brazil, in the state of Bahia.

I have always loved Davidoff cigars for their consistency, draw and elegance. I bought a box of 12...and have let them rest for two months at 68F and 65% RH in my coolidor. So far I have had 3...and all of them have had a really tight draw which drives me nuts. My Perfec draw improved the situation each time but still a sub-standard for Davidoff. The second disappoint for me was the intensity. Described as Full...but to me they are Mild-Medium. I get only very subtle flavours. So taste plus poor draw for me is a no-go. I will smoke the remaining 9 and hope that the first 3 were just "off" but so far not likely these at all. A shame because the shape, construction look fantastic. We shall see...

Burn was good draw was a bit on the snug side. The flavors were a disappointment I have had better in a $8 stick. Davidoff should probably just stick to what they know. The highlight was around the mid point I got about 20 draws of a flavor that reminded me of tea and milk that was very nice and unusual

Probably my worst Davidoff. Flavor was almost nonexistent, and the smoke production really fell off in the 2nd third; though thankfully it eventually recovered. Burn was uneven and needed multiple touch ups. Maybe I got a bad stick, but I wouldn’t buy it again or recommend it.

This cigar was my introduction to Davidoff. I had avoided them due to the high price tags but was ultimately overcome by curiosity. From the beautiful wrapper to the impeccable construction, the Escurio short robusto is a nearly perfect cigar. Well worth the money. I can't wait to see if the other Davidoff lines can match this level of flavor.

Nice looking cigar, beautiful medium/light chocolate brown wrapper, medium body, light/medium draw that got less and much more difficult to smoke as it got half way, somewhat uneven burn (had to correct it a few time), decent nutty spicy flavor but no so much complexity to it, wrapper started tearing half-way and almost came apart fully by the last third. Considering that it retails at almost $19 per cigar, I expected a much more refined cigar. I rate this cigar 5 out of 10 (2.5 stars).

Apart from being a big Davidoff fan, this cigar is a gentle, perfectly balanced smoke for 35 minutes. Throughout the years the quality is consistently perfect. Wonder how they can manage. Probably that’s why you pay a bit for the name.

Sitting on a houseboat in Apalachicola self-quarantining seemed like a good time to light up one of my best cigars in case I succumb to the Wuhan virus grim reaper. This did not disappoint. Smooth, creamy with hints of caramel, raisins and even a little maple. Hopefully the bourbon and bait hold out. Gonna get some more of these if I survive the corona apocalypse. Pray for those that grow and raise these find stogies, because life ain’t worth living without good cigars.

So far the best of the black label Davidoffs I've tried so far with a heady base of wood and leather interspersed with notes of chilli powder, dark chocolate, and a salty/sour citric tang. Is it worth the price? Debatable. But there's something here I've not found in another cigar.

Was expecting a lot more from this. Pretty ridiculous how hefty of a price for something incredibly small, and the flavors and aromatics were alright but not meriting the price. I'd rather smoke a Winston Churchill, Late Hour or Anniversario. Not reordering.
