The HVC 500 Years Anniversary cigar is hand rolled in Nicaragua. It is a full-bodied Nicaraguan puro from its dark Corojo maduro wrapper to its fillers. The HVC 500 Years Anniversary cigar is a powerful yet well-balanced cigar that is best enjoyed after a hearty meal.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Nicaraguan Corojo
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan Corojo '99 tobacco originated as a wrapper leaf in 1999 in Cuba. The seeds of the original Corojo '99 seed were planted in Ecuador, and these in turn were transplanted to Nicaragua. The leaf is appreciated for its excellent wrapper qualities and spiciness.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Jalapa is a tobacco-producing region in Nicaragua. It is known for its fertile land, and the tobacco grown there is one of superior quality and flavor.

Bino Gopal Where there multiple releases of this cigar, and if so how many? I'm wondering if that correlates to the "Limited Edition" black label that shows up in some pics of the sticks, but not on others. I think halfwheel reviewd the original release from 2019 with that label as being 5 points higher than the newer/rerelease from 2021/22 which doesn't have that label-is that right?

Pretty good stick. The first half inch or so was kind of bitter for my taste, but it definitely mellowed out into a much better flavor. I only smoked one out of my box so far, but that one I had to re light a couple of times and when I tried to take the label off about a quarter inch away from it, it took a huge chunk of the wrapper with it. And that happened with both labels. It may have just been that stick that had too much glue on the wrapper, though. Still a pretty decent smoke until that happened. Hopefully the rest aren’t like that.

One of my personal favorites of the last year or so; a complex, balanced and flavorful cigar. One I'm adding to my humidor both to have on hand and to see how it ages. Highly recommended.

Very good cigar, in my own personal opinion, they are the most Cubanesqe, non Cuban cigar I have ever smoked. There is almost a note of the Cuban twang I picked up while smoking it. They are definitely a gem and we'll worth it. The Box they come in is quite extravagant as well, no doubt it might be a collector item.

I was really expecting this to be all hype. It's NOT!! This really is a great smoke. And, as some reviewers have said, it is reminiscent of some of the Cuban cigars I have smoked. Well constructed, beautiful draw and a solid medium smoke with a hint of spice. I, too, might hope that this might be made a regular offering; but given the special nature of this vitola, I doubt that it will be.
