Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Pennsylvania maduro cigar wrapper comes from Connecticut Broadleaf plants grown in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. This maduro cigar wrapper is said to be more spicy and leathery than its Connecticut cousin. Though this is not a very attractive leaf, it is appreciated for its rich, full flavor.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

I really like this cigar. It is bold, but not over the top. It has 4 to 5 solid notes that are steady thought the smoke. Unlike it's brother, the darkness of the wrapper in combination with the band makes this the more elegant presentation of the two.

The PA broadleaf is what really makes this one. The wrapper is made from Maduro treasure map paper. Someone mentioned dried fruit and I agree. There's a sweet molasses thing going on. This is serious competition for the 858 maduro. When you're smoking in this 4.5-6.5 range, these are hard to mess with.

Will always be found in my humidor. The draw is perfect, with lots of smoke production. The slim profile and torpedo configuration adds to the feel of this cigar. Flavor wise its rich, heavy in dark chocolate and coffee. Personally did not pick up alot of pepper notes which to me is a big plus. Not as complex as other cigars but for the price, 10/10

Pre light; wrapper has a deep chocolate scent foot has a semi sweet scent. Very healthy draw on initial light with a sweetness to the tobacco. Hot smoke probably due to smaller stature that evened out after first third. Very flavorful. Excellent aroma. Nice on the retrohale. Pleasantly surprised by this one. Burn was a little off but no problems. Definitely not my Last Call. Great stick

Dark brown torpedo with a closed foot, it's a beautiful stick. The cold draw hints of pepper. Once lit, you're tested to nice pepper, cinnamon, a dried fruit. As it progresses, the pepper fades and I started to pick up coffee noted. This is a great stick.

Beefy little stick. Prodigious smoke output, very loose draw. Burned very evenly, never even the hint of a runner. Earthy, peppery, dusty cocoa in the back. Not much on sweet flavors, although a hint of lighter chocolate peaked through on retrohales. Flavors were very bold, just not a very complex cigar. Burn time was quick. Thirty five minutes and I made sure to take my time on it. Would be great with a really stout cup of coffee after eating a fatty steak.

Great for 25-30 min smokes. Never harsh And burns well with no touch ups required. Notes of chocolate and spice that’s consistent throughout. For a small size it stays smooth.

Very good after dinner cigar. Full bodied that burns well and has a great draw. Right amount of spice but stays smooth with flavors of chocolate and leather. Pairs great with a good coffee or whisky and for the price you can smoke everyday.

Licorice and chocolate, best Nicaraguan cigar in the price category. I recently had my humidor at 66% (with bovida 69% set up) so the cigar was slightly harsh on the palette, trust it will be smoother and creamier at higher Rh. Very enjoyable cigar - hands down AJF, next purchase a box.

I love this cigar. It is at a great price point for the quality. It has a perfect amount of sweetness to compliment the spice. This is usually the cigar I give to friends at parties due to its low price and good quality I don't feel bad giving them to people who don't really smoke. Definitely recommend you always know you will get a good smoke from AJ.
