The New World Connecticut is the logical follow up to the incredibly popular maduro cigar by AJ Fernandez, New World. This version is round, not box-pressed, and is wrapped in a beautiful, light brown US Connecticut Shade wrapper. The binder is a Mexican San Andres and fillers are from Brazil and Nicaragua. This medium bodied stick offers creamy, coffee, and cedar notes throughout.

Because of a very hot and sunny summer, the tobacco is shade grown to make the leaf more delicate with few veins and even surface. Connecticut Shade wrapper grown in the United States has a mild to medium flavor and a silky quality, making it one of the most expensive and sought-after cigar wrappers in the cigar industry.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
The San Andres region in Mexico is known for producing some of the best tobacco in the world. The tobacco is stalk cut and valued for its rich dark color and used to make noteworthy maduro wrappers and binders.

A go to AJ stick when I want a milder one, that still offers a bit of a kick to it, this is usually a morning cigar with my coffee and it pairs well. the cedar notes worked their way into the profile about half way through, and this burns really well. It is mild most of the time, but last third kicks up to medium.

I was a little disappointed in this one. It was very harsh at the start, but that may be a little bit my fault because I think I overheated the foot a bit upon lighting. Strong pepper, spice, and cedar notes that mellowed a bit as I got into the middle 3rd. The harshness returned coming into the final third, and the wrapper also began to come apart. I've kept this guy protected and at 72% RH for a few months, so I don't think that caused the issue. The middle 3rd was enjoyable, though, and I will definitely give this one another chance sometime. Great looking cigar!

Best Connecticut wrapper cigar I have had to date (have smoked rocky Patel 1999, undercrown shade, Ashton, oliva). These AF cigars do not get sour and produce a great mild flavor throughout the entire smoke.

The first few draws of this cigar delivered a strong blast of spicy cedar. After that, it mellowed to a nice smooth hay and buttered toast profile. The smoke was light/medium in body, and the cigar developed only a slight amount of strength. The burn was very good and the draw was just right. Overall: This is a terrific cigar and a real winner in its price range.
