Jaime Partagas created this brand in 1845. Cigar masters Ramón Cifuentes and Ramón Cifuentes, Jr. made Partagas the leading Cuban cigar. But in 1961, Ramón Cifuentes was forced to flee Cuba, never to return. Seventeen years later, he was finally able to begin creating his Partagas cigars again, this time in the Dominican Republic, where his unmatched tradition of cigar making remains alive and well.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Cameroon wrappers are grown in the East part of the country. The growing area spreads over the eastern border, into the Central African Republic. Wrappers are air grown, without fertilizers and pesticides, by small farmers. The average plantation size is about one acre. The seed is originally from Sumatra, introduced in the country just after WWII.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Mexican tobacco is primarily grown in the San Andres region due to its volcanic soil. It has a very distinctive flavor with a spicy and earthy profile. As a binder it adds to the cigar’s overall flavor.

Joe Zalesky Does Partagas make any figurados today? I am looking at one shaped similar to a Macanudo Diplomat with the red 1845 label. This cigar may be 20 years old, but at least 15.

I have smoked out 3 boxes of these already. Nice cigars. Dark chocolate, cofee and a lot of earth in the last 3rd part. Not everybcigar has a good draw, but I don’t expect these to be perfect for this price. Anyway - worth a try and never disappointed!

Great draw and terrific burn - no touchups needed at all - and the nice tight ash got about 2.5" long before tapping it off. It had a peppery bite on my lips along with flavors of slightly bitter black coffee, dark chocolate and toasted earthy nuttiness. Overall a pretty tasty smoke down to the nub.

First, I think this might be a better cigar than the one I had. This had multiple soft spots, the burn was awful (burned a line 2 inches long in seconds right off the bat), forcing me to overdraw in order to get smoke and making it bitter. I have heard good things about this smoke, so I was very surprised and disappointed. The very fist draw was an explosion of flavors. Fantastic as a matter of fact. I believe another try could be in order with the hopes that mine was just an oops.

Flavor-wise this has been a mixed bag so far, some really bitter and off. Perhaps they just needed a little more aging. The biggest issue I have is the ash. The wrapper ash comes away from the main ash in small curls. They don't hold on. If you smoke these in the car or wind, it gets *everywhere*. The filler ash ends up like powder and doesn't break off in clean chunks, again creating a mess if there's any air flow at all.

I usually do not smoke this size but this is the exception to my rule. Nice creamy smoke with great draw and wonderful burn. Nice mild flavor to the end. A great change from my normally medium to full sticks. I don't buy many boxes because I like to have variety; however I bought a box of these. Can't beat the price for this great smoke.

found these to be a medium range flavoured cigar when i thought they might be a little stronger. Very nice flavour all the way through with a bit of a peppery finish which i really enjoyed. would buy these again!

This is a well-behaved, pleasant-tasting cigar. I would say it is on the mild end of medium. A good cigar for early in the day or for newer smokers.

I got this cigar in a sampler pack I purchased from Neptune Cigars about 7 weeks ago. Very easy to light, draw was perfect, the burn was razor perfect. Required no religiosity or touch ups. Just a real working man's cigar. I will definitely keep some of these in my humidor.

Great cigar for the price, burn was excellent, decent smoke output, spicy cigar but not overpowering, I thought it was fairly smooth, no harshness at all. Definitely a good cigar to keep in your humidor.

Long smoke, a bit spicy. Not sure I like the extra large ring gauges. Makes for a very long smoke, much longer than you would expect. Also creates a lot of smoke, which seemed good for the flavor. A bit too spicy for me, but still very mellow and smooth. Very firm and well made.
