Handmade by the legendary Drew Estate in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Deadwood Crazy Alice features a rough, rustic look along with a peculiar name and outlandish packaging, but don't dare dismiss her as anything other than totally serious. Covered in a dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper along with premium Nicaraguan binder and filler, this medium to full-bodied cigar emits an aroma akin to pipe tobacco while exhibiting smooth earthy notes of mocha and leather with a perfect touch of spice. Don't let her tough exterior intimidate you - this gal is here to please.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

USA Connecticut Broadleaf
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

This was the weirdest smoke I've had so far. I wasn't expecting the sweet tip, but it worked. So much smoke. Great aroma, but I didn't get the pipe tobacco smell. Flavors were all leather. Some spice came in at the end. The draw was terrible, which I kind of expected. So. Much. Smoke. Worth a try and another try after that.

Crazy Alice is a whole bunch of unique qualities all mashed together. Not quite as sweet as Baby Janes, Alice has a cone/pyramid shape with a closed foot. The tip is easy to cut for a proper draw, and the wrap of the foot is impeccable. It starts burning unevenly, and you'll swear it's going to trench on you, yet it evens out and settles down into a clean burn every time. The sweetness is never overpowering, and it's fun breaking one of these out and having all your friends be all like "WTF is that??"

The Deadwood line is different than any other cigar on the market. The Crazy Alice is a good short smoke and it produces alot of smoke. It has what I call a trail smoke which is a small line of smoke. Fun and conversational cigar.

Perfect draw, and a good looking cigar. But, Neptune's description is accurate and the pipe tobacco aroma and flavor in this cigar just don't work for my palate. But, if that flavor profile is your jam, you'll love this one.

Had to have a couple of these to decide what was going on. First one had an overpowering, stinging, artificial flavoring on the end. The second one was not as strong. They put out a lot of smoke and have a strong earthy flavor. Like to have these to change things up once in a while.

I absolutely love this cigar. It has a smooth chocolate flavor. The only drawback for me is that it’s size makes it a novelty rather than a cigar one would smoke on a regular basis. They should consider at least a Robusto size.

Super sugar sweet cap. I swear this is infused, which is not my thing. Lots of sugar that remains on the lips long after smoking. The flavor is consistent throughout, and also tastes a bit infused, though that might just be the overpowering cap...which I swear is dipped in high sugar chocolate. Wrapper was split at the foot, causing a low concern uneven burn early. Needed a few touch ups throughout. TONS of smoke production. Overall a decent profile, if not overly complex, ruined for me by the infused nature. If someone handed me one again, I would smoke it for sure, but I probably wouldn't buy again. If you dig super sweet, or even infused cigars, then you will probably love this. Maybe this is the halfway stick between the two worlds. For me, like coffee, tobacco already perfect without gobs of sugar.

First time smoking this particular cigar. I had previously smoked Fat bottom Betty & Sweet Jane in this Deadwood line from Drew Estate. This is the only pyramid vitola in the line. I liked FBB, but wasn’t impressed with SJ. I Wasn’t sure what to expect from Crazy Alice. I was thoroughly impressed. Aroma & Taste we’re out of this world. Sweet & nutty smell, the smell of the smoke reminded me of the street vendors that sell roasted sugar coated nuts on the streets of New York City. I found this to be the best tasting cigar in this line. The burn had a few issues: it burned a bit unevenly, canoed a little. Went out on me twice, had to re-light it. That being said, Having smoked a several FBB & two SJ with out any burn issues I’ll assume this one was just a less than perfect roll. Love the artwork on the band. I’ll definitely be ordering more of these.

At a first glance I see exactly how this cigar got its name, Deadwood Crazy Alice. It has a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper which is usually an indicator of a full-bodied cigar, but of course this petite corona is mild to medium. I did not notice the aroma, because of the overwhelming taste of honey from the few puffs. The blend is an array of sweetness mixed with subtle undertones of spice, a dash of pepper, and coffee beans. This smoke makes for a very unique Connecticut Broadleaf that comes equipped with a strong whiteish grey ash. It is easy to smoke and is not too heavy on nicotine. This corona, standing a little over 4inches, is the epitome of short and sweet. With an even burn all the way through towards the end, the acidity of the flavors increases, but does not overwhelm the pallet as the sweetness is consistent throughout. In the last third, the flavors neutralize, yet the honey spreads like a wildfire to finish the cigar. A very enjoyable smoke for an amateur, the wife as well as for a big cigar aficionado looking to break the monotony of the traditional every day blend.

This is a great cigar, I enjoyed it. Open draw with plenty of aromatic smoke. I highly recommend trying this if you're looking for a change of pace or a shorter smoke.

This was one of my firsts before I got serious about cigars. There is a sweet cap on this cigar so the first half of your smoke will be pretty hard to discover all the flavors that crazy Alice is hiding. However I did find hints of chocolate in this. Overall it’s a great smoke for those who are beginners.
