The La Aurora 107 Nicaragua is part of La Aurora’s famous Tobaccos of the World portfolio. It is a full-bodied cigar that is handmade in the Dominican Republic. This is a Nicaraguan puro from its spicy Habano maduro wrapper right down to its filler. It was first released in Europe where it was well received before making its way to the United States. The Tobaccos of the World collection uses the La Aurora 107 cigar and re-imagines it with tobaccos from a specific country so aficionados can experience its flavor, aroma and subtleties.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

These didn't do it for me. Great construction, good draw, nice burn, but the taste wasn't as a good as I expected. But hey, that's why they make so many diff blends and cigars.

This smoke struck me as more medium and creamy and nutty. Not as strong as expected but rich and tasty nonetheless. Had a split at the foot but once I smoked past it got an even and consistent draw and burn. A little more earthy on the backside. Solid smoke overall.

The La Aurora Cigar Company was established in 1903 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. In 2020, they released their first Nicaraguan puro featuring the finest tobacco from this Central American country. The La Aurora 107 Nicaraguan Robusto is hand crafted with a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and a Nicaraguan binder and filler. It was developed by La Aurora’s master blender Manuel Inoa. The wrapper was oily to the touch and had a slightly darker than medium shade of brown. It had an aroma of fresh-cut wood with a back-note of wet earth. The foot was more earthy with a slight cocoa note. In the first third, I got a medium-full bodied smoke filled with earth and cedar flavors, while the retro-hale had fiery red pepper and wood notes. When I moved into the second third, I noticed the cedar notes were still holding strong but with more power, while there was some unsweetened cocoa and pepper notes, it backed off on the palate and nose. The last third of the 107 Nicaragua was earthy with some coffee and cocoa notes. The draw was great, the burn line was even, and the ash was solid. La Aurora’s 107 Nicaragua is a good example of a Nicaraguan tobacco and all the earthiness it can have. Cheers.
