Christian Eiroa celebrates his 20 years in the cigar industry with a full bodied Honduran puro called Eiroa The First 20 Years. Christian started his career with Camacho cigars and today runs CLE Cigars with a factory in Danli, Honduras called El Aladino.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

Honduran cigar wrapper has the reputation of great quality, with wrapper leaf being grown in the Jamastran, Talanga and San Agustin valleys. Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

Sweet wood, dark chocolate, cocoa, espresso flavors, with zero spice. The cigar leaves a very unique fudge brownie finish in your mouth. You can tell this is a premium cigar for sure. Perfect burn and construction. I personally found the Colorado to be better but both cigars were delicious. Mild-medium strength. Definitely box worthy!

I’m glad I tried it but don’t see the value. Regardless, the draw was excellent, lots of flavor, enjoyed the aroma and the burn was decent. It is the flattest BP I’ve smoked which was odd but I can’t say it took anything away from the overall experience.

Burns beautifully, the draw is good, not necicarrily the best I have tried. I am a sucker for box pressed and these are beautifully constructed. The first few puffs are actually kind of disappointingly bitter given the amazing flavor and aroma on the wrapper. Once you're into it, the stick mellows out and becomes more nuanced and very balanced across the notes of almond, pepper, spice, wood, and chocolate. The last third was far too harsh for me as an overwhelming bitterness came back.

I really like this cigar. Reminds me of early 2000’s in NYC when I was living there and smoking at Nat Sherman’s (RIP). Back then I had a mentor who would buy boxes of Padrons and store them there. And once a week he would take me there and give me one. This Eiroa is a time machine. It’s a great smoke, very well balanced - doesn’t over powering you and taste great. The shape (box press/60) is perfect (if you like a large ring, I do). The burn is smooth and even, doesn’t canoe. The smell is of a great cigar shop (I can’t believe Nat’s closed!). If you have an hour plus and want a great cigar, don’t over look this one! For me, I will definitely be buying this one again and adding it to my collection.

I'm primarily a med-full Nicaraguan smoker, but once I stumbled on the Eiroa Dark and CBT Maduro, I loved them. I was disappointed in this one, however. Great construction and burn, but I expected more from a "legacy" branded cigar. I won't say anything more, just please try the Dark and CBT before this one, if you want to experience a very good Honduran cigar.

Christian Eiroa is well known for making great cigars. His legacy continues with the Eiroa First 20 Years Toro Gordo. Celebrating the Eiroa family's first two decades in the business, this cigar catches your eye with a beautifully dark wrapper. Its wrapper binder and filler are all Honduran. At first light, you are introduced to a combination of oak and hints of espresso. It made that first retro hale heavenly. You are introduced also to some hints of nice spice. The aroma of cedar and wood makes the cigar that much more enjoyable. At the halfway point the spice picks up a little, but with just the right amount. The flavors of espresso and oak are still present. Cedar notes are now officially introduced, with all three complimenting each other. Toward the end, the spice diminishes a bit. Some hints of cocoa now appear. Again, not overwhelming. All these flavors create a delicious blend that make this a great cigar for anyone, since it's not as strong as it may appear. To those that are looking to get out of their comfort zone, I would recommend this cigar whole-heartedly. Enjoy.

A lot of hype surrounding this cigar. decent stick, but a bit overpriced. great draw. decent burn with a few touch ups. sweet creamy cedar with some citrus notes. that faded quick and i kept chasing that initial flavor, but it got drowned out by some bitterness throughout the cigar. then again, I really am a maduro fan, so this was a bit out of my wheel house. oh, and the top cap of the head was a bit cracked. not a huge deal but that along with the lingering bitterness and high price kind of left me wanting more than the price of the stick advertised, so many AMAZING Sticks at this price point leaves expectations very high at this point in the game

Cold traction is earthy and fleshy, with a slight sweetness. When I lit it, but once I did, there was a distinct note of cocoa and cinnamon that was dominant in the first third. In the second third of the cigar, a strong note of espresso takes over and reminds me of toasting coffee beans in the nose. In the last third of the cigar, the retroaleia develops cinnamon elements. The colored ashes of marble remained in the first and subsequent quarters of the cigar. The draw was perfect and the stick remained lit from first to last puff. To me, the aroma of the cigar was only worth the price of the ticket, and this could be the best cigar in my opinion.

I've had 2 different experiences with this cigar. Fresh out the box it was sweet, chocolate, wood, and spice, but with some age, it developed a sweet, syrupy woodiness that's indescribable. For the price, I'd prefer something else, but it has its appeal.

Overall a truly exceptional cigar! Absolutely worth it, as good if not better than the classic Robustos. Burn needed some slight correcting, but most vitolas like this usually do here or there.

Once you get past the hideous wrapping of this cigar, you will be in absolute heaven. If you like salamones cigars, you have to try this one. It has an incredible smell that I can't quite describe, a perfect draw despite the narrow end, a perfect burn right down to the fingertips. It's phenomenal in every way throughout the 2+hrs smoking time required.

Celebrating 20 years in the cigar business, Christian Eiroa produced another winner with this blend! The cigar has been highly rated for good reasons. The blend is a Honduran puro with a dark brown oily wrapper. Upon first light, notes of white pepper and cedar jump out followed closely by cocoa and espresso notes. A large output of smoke was apparent immediately, along with a perfect draw. Into the second third, a wonderful sweetness comes into play—notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and woody hang out. Nice complexity which Christian Eiroa is known for. Into the final third, the sweetness stayed until the end which was a plus. The cigar ended with notes of leather, oak and a smooth creaminess— was very sad the experience had to end! Amazing med bodied, full flavored smoke with complexity. Definitely a cigar for new comers as well as the experienced smoker. A must try, definitely worth the price. Enjoy the experience!

Really wanted to like this a lot, especially after I saw the dual 92-point ratings and the reasonable 12-dollar-ish price. It didn't live up to the expectations. The packaging is very nice and impressive. But the stick felt loosely-packed, not dense like a regular box-press, and the flavor was very mild. It wasn't bad, it just didn't impress. I had smoked the CLE Prieto a few days ago (robusto, same maker I think) and it had more flavor. For a few bucks less, the Padilla Vintage Reserve robusto packs more chocolate-coffee crunch. I left a second one aging in my humidor and will see what time does with it, but after this first smoke I would have called it an 88-89 not nearly a 92.

A delicately tissue paper wrapped cigar has recently become Christian Eiroa's signature, so it isn't a surprise that he chose this beautiful packaging for the cigar released to celebrate 20 years of cigar making. There is a lot of expertise to be gained in 20 years, and this cigar is the perfect example. Box pressed and dark, the stick looks like a chocolate bar. Unwrap it and the aroma of rich, spicy tobacco is immediately present. I chose the Prensado size because it is my favorite size on both Eiroa and Eiroa CBT lines. The taste of this cigar is superb, rich, earthy...producing lots of white smoke and a white-gray ash. This cigar has an easy draw and burns extremely well, it also mellows out pretty quickly which is nice in a full bodied cigar. I also enjoy the very pleasant peppery but sweet notes in the palate. Retrohale to feel more of the pepper if you like that sort of thing. Tip: Eiroa is pronounced A-Ee-Row-a

20 years in the cigar business is. a huge accomplishment and Christian Eiroa knows how to celebrate: making a great cigar. There's no doubt this is a celebratory cigar, the look is very festive. A beautiful bright red, black and gold band wrapped with a delicate light yellow paper makes it stand out from the rest. This box press stick has a rough, impeccable, maduro wrapper, very attractive and promising to the eyes and palate. The first third it's all about cacao notes with hints of espresso and a very subtle...nutmeg maybe? I'm not sure what it is but it goes really well with the other flavors. In the second third, the espresso notes intensify and take over combined with earthy and cedar tones in the background. In the last third the nutmeg (I'm still not sure what it is) becomes more than a whisper but cacao it's the predominant flavor now. Flawless construction, flavorful, aromatic, beautiful solid ash, an even burn line, plus, no need to relight. That's what I call perfection.
