Platinum Nova Cigars

Platinum Nova Cigars is a family owned and operated company dedicated to creating premium cigars that honor the memory of the family’s grandfather, a master blender, who imparted his love of cigars and the art of cigar crafting to his family. The cigars are made using the finest vintage tobaccos that have been carefully aged from 10 to 15 years. They are handmade in the Dominican Republic by an experienced and dedicated team of cigarmakers. Once rolled, the cigars are set in Spanish cedar vaults for three years. This highly specialized aging process is what gives Platinum Nova cigar their unique balanced and distinct flavors.

While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Habana 2000 or H2000, is a hybrid between El Corojo, Cuba's standard wrapper leaf last cultivated in the 90s, and a cigarette tobacco called Bell 61-10. Cuban cigar growers crossed these two tobaccos in order to get a wrapper leaf that would be more resistant to disease than the Corojo was. Although its introduction was controversial and the leaf was not widely accepted, its quality has improved over time and it is now being cultivated with success outside of Cuba as well.
