Some cigars are known for making firsts, but the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua has two firsts. It is the first Nicaraguan puro in the Quattro line, and it is the first Quattro made outside of the Dominican Republic. The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua does a great job of balancing strength and body with both leaning towards the strong side, which makes it a bold stick that will definitely appeal to the veteran aficionado or the newbie wanting to step up their game. Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Cut: guillotine Draw: Medium tight with decent airflow Virgin draw: Cocoa and roasted coffee beans Aroma: creamy chocolate and coffee First 1/3: Roasted coffee beans, dark cocoa, and tingling pepper on the mouth. The pepper is mild in flavor and reminiscent of red pepper almost Cayenne and mesquite like. Very characteristic of a Nicaraguan blend. Cream starts to come in with some sweetness and leather punching its way in. As it develops into the first third, leather, cream, mesquite, and some earth are the main players. I’m usually not a fan of earth at all, but the Earth is blended very well into the flavor where it’s almost undetectable. Half: the cigar starts to mellow while wet cedar, florals, and some nuttiness start to become the main players. Slight leather is still there with some roasted coffee notes. The burn on this is exceptional and is holding up very well. Last third: sweet cream, leather, earth and some spice take over. Flavors are balanced well. The flavors dance together really well on this stick. End: mesquite came through big time on the flavor with wet cedar. Cream and leather lingering. Lasting aroma is heavy on cedar and woods Solid 8.75/10. Points deducted for the draw, and sometimes a little too much earth, but that did dissipate majority of the way through the cigar. Easily could be a nine. Pairs well with a coffee, heavy Brandy or bourbon. Definitely recommending eating something prior to this smoke.

Another amazing cigar from Rafael Nodal, this time with the help of AJ Fernández and his Nicaraguan factory. The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua is an extremely well renowned blend, taking cigar of the year in 2019 with its torpedo size, and this beautiful box-pressed Churchill simply gave me more to enjoy. This Nicaraguan puro starts off strong with some heavy chocolate and espresso notes from the first third, balanced out by a pleasant spice in the retrohale. The maduro sweetness is soon complemented by faint leather and earth notes in the second third. The final third brought the smoke to a close with a rich sweetness, which leaves a nice mild finish on the palette. Construction wise the cigar was near perfect, wrapper leaf in beautiful condition with clear rolling seams and the burn line only needed to be corrected a few times. I’d pair this cigar with a nice cognac to complement the mellow sweetness in the final third.

This is a smoke that is a little complex and easy to enjoy. Start off with a nice little peppery flavor then it gets a little mild and just when you think it's gonna get borit's gonna get boring a lot more flavor and pepper kicks in on the 2nd half kind of nutty flavor with the little nutmeg.

Came slightly damaged with a slight bend and crease in the middle but still smoked like a champ. I've smoked a number of maestros but this is my first concerto and just as good with an excellent draw and burn even with the dent in the middle. Gotta try the other sizes too. The aging room Quattro Nicaragua is definitely humidor worthy.

Well done cigar.. it is OK. Strength to place this stick in the full flavored category is there but it gets rather bitter at halfway. A lot of body and flavor in the first half but it fades. I light in total stillness but had a racing burn up one side that needed three flame corrections. Not a bad cigar.. the second half did not pass muster. You will get earth, hay, and a bit of chocolate body taste in the first half. It is just an OK smoke… 86-87 range!

Nice cigar, i don’t see the 96 points from Cigar Afficinado but I am no expert. I wouldn’t turn it down as a gift and I may buy it again and age it. What I like … looks good, burns (mostly) evenly, good ash head, smoke is not over powering. Taste a bit sweet (the wrapper) and the draw taste a little chalky (maybe woody and leathery?). Ring gauge is about perfect. What I don’t like… a bit light for a box press … I like my boxed pressed a bit denser. No real complaints. For a regular cigar it’s pretty good and the price doesn’t hurt. Don’t expect to be blown away though.

Immaculate cigar. Dark even toned wrapper. Seamless and without visible veins. Solid construction, box pressed with good proportions. Seductive aroma, makes my mouth water. V cut produces a perfect draw, with hints of sweet cinnamon and chocolate. Once lit this beauty produces a fair amount of smoke, not very thick, just right. Initial flavors of dry wood and earth take over my mouth. Nothing subtle about this smoke. Dryness dissappears Flavors mellow and blend to a complex full bodied earth wood with coffee bean hints on the tip of my tongue. Burn was sharp, ash held for about 1 1/2 inch, expected better. Amazing smoke. Relax and Enjoy.

I ordered one of these because a few friends of mine swear by it. When it comes to draw, burn, and appearance and composition, it might be one of the best cigars I’ve ever seen. And upon cold draw, I sweet, nutty notes that gave me high hopes for it. However, after smoking about half of it, I ended up putting it out. The flavor just doesn’t do it for me. Really disappointing because as I’ve said, beautiful composition, excellent draw, great and even burn up until I put it out. The flavor just wasn’t my thing though and I wasn’t enjoying it at all.

A looser draw put out tons of smoke. Primary notes are wood/cedar with pepper playing a secondary role. Cocoa grows as it goes into 2nd third, with leather coming in at the close. Complex and delicious. A new favorite. Excellent and highly recommend.

Had a April 2020 manufacturing date on this box. I'm impressed by the burn and draw. Quite a few #1 Cigar of the Year burnt very badly (esp Alec Bradley) after getting the award. A sure sign that the factory was rushing to produce sub-par products to cater to the increased demand from winning the award. This cigar did not exhibit that at all. Decent flavour of tea and nicotine strength was just nice. I wouldn't necessarily agree that this the #1 cigar but it's a good cigar.

Bought this because it was 2019’s #1 cigar in Cigar Aficionado. Certainly lived up to that rating. Great cigar. I don’t have a sophisticated palate enough to tell you it had hints of cedar, or dark chocolate or whatnot. I can say it was delightful, tasted great, smelled fantastic, burned perfectly, and was worth the price. Definitely tasted some differences as I smoked it. All of them good. Fairly strong, paired it with a Fat Tire beer. Good stuff.

Was excited about this one. Dry taste and draw was semi sweet chocolate and sweet tobacco. Draw: Good draw with a little resistance, plenty of smoke. Appearance: This is a nice looking cigar. Banding is pretty nice and clean. Smooth chocolate wrapper and nice torpedo. Construction on this cigar is great. Burn: Burn got whacky on me a few times a required some touch ups. no relights. Aroma: pleasant aroma. Taste: I normally don’t taste a whole lot of what is in the description of cigars, but on this one they nailed all of them. Smooth all the way through with an easy retro. Cedar, chocolate and earth. Cedar and chocolate are predominant in the first two thirds then transitions into more Earth on the final third. Overall, good smoke that I will always have in rotation now. Smokes really well aside from the burn.

Right from the start this cigar had black pepper and dark cocoa and it continued getting a little sweeter after the halfway point. A perfect straight burn the whole way even outside in the wind. A perfect cigar for watching the kids' Easter egg hunt.

Roger Daltrey told me "you won't get fooled again". He lied, I thought the original F55 was overated but thought perhaps the Nica would be a change since it got some high praise from the mags. Nope, not the case. Flavors were very flat

Excellent cigar. Nica Puro. Great smoke output with chewy mouth feel, minimal burn issues although it canoed about 3/5 of the way in, not bitter and good flavor. The draw on this gar was surprisingly good. Will buy again, preferably in this vitola.

just a great all around cigar. Not sure if I'd say it was cigar of the year. but your mileage may vary. solid medium to full strength. with a very full body and great nica presence. Strong punch of that signature nicaraguan earthy sweetness. with some great fresh cracked black pepper on the retrohale. very inviting aroma, I received some compliments on the way the smoke smelled. worth a try, five pack worthy

Excellent cigar (as any AJ Fernendez blend). Mostly earth and leather flavors and spicy. I enjoyed it. However, if you have smoked other blends by AJ Fernendez this will not have any "surprise" for you.

What I'd expect from AJ Fernandez's puro's. Pepper. Spice. Smoke. And strength! I don't know...but for me, this had to have been one of the strongest sticks I've had in a long time! Not a bad thing, but I was slightly taken aback by the strength. I have one more to smoke, and now I know what awaits me!
