When developing the blend for the Original Documents Habano cigar, Dion Giolito, the brand’s founder, didn’t want to create just another Habano cigar. He wanted to create something new and exciting. It is why he collaborated with master cigar crafter AJ Fernandez. To create the blend, AJ dug into his stash of proprietary of Sun-grown, Habano-seed tobacco for the wrapper. Then, he expertly blended it with a Nicaraguan binder and filler made of premium leaves from three of Nicaragua’s top-tobacco growing regions: Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa. The results? A full-strength, Nicaraguan puro that offers a delectable smoking experience. The cigars are handmade at AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Nicaragua.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

This cigar has tons of barnyard flavor on the cold draw, like wet hay and manure, which is fascinating. Light it up and a really nice cognac-laced sweetness emerges, along with the aforementioned notes of hay and manure, now complimented by a darker note of wet earth. The hay and cognac notes keep dialing-up louder and louder in the mix as the cigar is smoked. I usually prefer darker maduro sticks, but I really loved this for a change of pace. This lancero vitola is made extra-long, and feels playful, whimsical, and elegant all at once. The burn is fantastic, allowing me to abandon it for several minutes at a time -- much longer than I expected for a cigar with this small of a ring gauge. Draw has just the right amount of airflow. This is definitely a full-strength cigar and I predict that you'll be riding a mighty nicotine high before it's finished. I highly recommend this for those who do like to avoid peppery notes and prefer sweet and easy-going notes in their cigars. At this price it's an excellent value. A-
