The La Gloria Cubana is a globally recognized cigar brand with a strong loyal following and a rich history that precedes post-revolution Cuba. It also has a passionate fanbase with a large online presence called the La Gloria Cubana Society. To show their appreciation for their years of loyalty, the brand surveyed its fans. Then asked them what their ideal cigar would be and to include the blend, vitola and packaging. The fans responded and after many trials they released the La Gloria Cubana Society Cigar. It is a flavorful, medium-bodied Honduran puro with a mouthwatering maduro wrapper.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

Ecuador Sumatra tobacco is made from Sumatra-seeds that been cultivated in Ecuador, one of the most ideal locations for growing tobacco. The leaves tend to be dark and rich in flavor.

The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

El Credito Cigar Co.
In 1948, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Sr. purchased the El Credito cigar factory in Havana, Cuba. After the Cuban Revolution, he left Cuba and moved to Miami, FLA. There he purchased a small cigar factory and named it El Credito. In 1976, his son Ernesto Jr. took over the enterprise. In the 1990s, El Credito released the legendary La Gloria Cubana cigar. Eventually, El Credito was purchased by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, which still makes the La Gloria Cubana cigar in the Dominican Republic.

I liked everything about this cigar except the burn which got a bit wonky at times and it will go out on you if you sit on it too long. Otherwise a nice draw and plenty of flavor. I got that tingly spiciness right away that lasted throughout the smoke. Attractively packaged and pressed too.

Awesome smokes, with full open draw and even burn, smokable to the last inch. Floral flavor transitioned into cream and almond paste. Very nice.

So! What do you do when you are a legendary cigar brand with an ultra-strong fanbase? You ask them what they want in a cigar, listen, take notes, experiment, and execute. And that’s exactly how the La Gloria Cubana Cigar Toro was born. The blend for this cigar was based on the input provided by members of the La Gloria Cubana Society, which is an online community composed of the brand’s most hardcore fans. The cigar is a Honduran puro that features a rustic maduro wrapper. Its construction was firm with just the right amount of give. Prior to lighting, I picked up a soothing tobacco sweetness along with a grassy and earthy aroma. During the first third, warm coffee notes greeted my palate. Into the second third, the construction loosened up a bit, and some tingling notes of spice introduced themselves. The burn did require a touch up, but the draw was all flow, and the ash leaned towards dark. In the final third, the grassy and earthy notes receded, but the spice stayed steady, and the tobacco sweetness became more pronounced. If you’re a fan of this popular brand or been wanting to try it, your ship has come in, but you’d better jump on it because this dreamboat won’t stay in port for too long. For pairing, I suggest a Cuban Coffee, Port Wine, or Dark Brown Ale.

I'm giving this 5 stars because it's a very enjoyable cigar that any fan of La Gloria Cubana, or just cigars in general, will probably appreciate and should give a try. It's reasonably priced and a relaxing and smooth smoke with solid flavors. Hope it becomes part of their regular line-up.
