The Oscar Habano Robusto 5 * 50, Box of 11

The Oscar Habano is a cigar handmade in Honduras by Oscar Valladares. Wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the cigar is presented with an outer wrapping of Candela tobacco leaf instead of cellophane, which is instantly appealing. Rich chocolate notes and tons of flavor with spice and cedar predominate in this cigar.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Burn and draw were good no construction issues. Flavors were quite unique. Started peppery they was creamy with almond and something I can only describe as minty but not in a bad way. I'm not a fan of the leaf wrapper. I would rather just have cellophane because this adds a level of potential damage when you remove it

If it wasn't for strength, this would have been great. Perfect burn and draw. No need for 2 puffs, one is enough to produce smoke. Lingering strength is bothering me. Yes I ate before, but almost from start gives me a bit of lightheadedness. A bit of a pain in the neck that it stays throughout cigar. Some spice/pepper in last of 2nd 3rd. No cedar. Slow burn after 1st 3rd. A bit of canooing halfway through. If I buy this again it would be for after good lunch or dinner smoke. Overall, definitely something I would recommend to others.

I have to be honest, it’s very rare that I get truly excited about a new cigar find, but the experience of smoking this was out of this world. Using only tobacco leads to wrap the cigars seems like it might be a gimmick. I cannot say without trying one of their cigars that has never been wrapped this way. All I can tell you is that the whole range that I tried had a depth of flavour I usually find in cigars double the price of these. 10 out of 10, absolutely bloody essential smoking

Great look and a big fat cigar that feels great to the touch. First third was average. Remainder was a little better, but not fantastic overall. Somewhat surprised that it only took 90 minutes to smoke in comparison to its thick gauge. Certainly worth a try but don’t think I’ll be buying more.

I'm digging the Oscar Valladeres cigars right now. This Habano is my new fave go to. I prefer a fairly light, smooth smoke and this fits the bill. Not sure if I should leave the outer wrap on or not (I've tried both ways).

The wrapper on The Oscar Habano is a true Habano, grown in Ecuador and based on appearance, sun grown. The cigar is covered in a candela tobacco leaf which covers up most of the band. Upon lighting, black pepper, cocoa, and leather immediately hit me along with a deep, rich smoke. The draw was excellent, nice aroma, perfect ash. Moving on to the middle part of the cigar the chocolate notes really begin to shine. There are mint like qualities on the finish, which help the other notes pop. Past the half way point some hints of coffee begin to emerge as well. The retrohale of the cigar has an abundance of spices, and more mint that lingers ever so slightly. I will definitely be revisiting this cigar again in the future!
