An absolutely beautifully crafted, heavy ashtray. The only minor flaw is that the bottom may scratch your table surface. I added small rubber pads under the 4 corners.

This is a heavy duty ashtray. It's made of .25" (approx.) thick porcelain and it has no pour-holes/hollow cavities on the underside that make some other ashtrays difficult to clean. The surface is smooth and the graphics are beautiful. There are a couple of very small pinhole flaws in the glaze, but they are virtually unnoticeable. There are also a couple of minor blemishes/uneven spots in the glaze that might bother you if you're a compulsive perfectionist, but I think they actually add to the quality of the vintage styling. When I say that this ashtray is heavy duty, what I mean is that it's got a lot of heft to it. It is certainly not going to blow away in a stiff wind or crack if you clunk a rocks glass against it. If you plan to place it on a surface that you care about, you're going to want to stop at the store and get some of those little sticky felt pads. Right out of the box, it has nothing to protect your furniture from the unglazed porcelain on the bottom. Yes, I would give this as a gift. Yes, I might even buy another one so I can have a matching set.
