A balanced, medium-bodied cigar that delivers notes of toasted almonds, vanilla, cream, spice, and wood. A Honduran binder and filler support a smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. The cigars are handmade in Honduras. The H. Upmann 1844 Classic is the fifth blend released under the popular 1844 line. It is also the first time that the line has had a Connecticut Shade offering.

Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.
