It is the first time that Partagas has released a barber pole cigar, and it is the first time they have done it with some of the most aged tobaccos they have at their disposal. The Anejo’s carefully composed wrapper uses a vintage 1998 Cameroon leaf that is wound with a 2013 USA Connecticut Shade leaf to form an exquisite capa that is a beauty to behold. This awesome wrapper artfully covers a binder from the Dominican Republic and a filler made of Dominican Piloto Cubano and Mexican San Andres leaves. The Anejo provides a mild to medium smoking experience that will appeal to the traditional as well as the contemporary smoker. The cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic.

  Cameroon wrappers are grown in the East part of the country. The growing area spreads over the eastern border, into the Central African Republic. Wrappers are air grown, without fertilizers and pesticides, by small farmers. The average plantation size is about one acre. The seed is originally from Sumatra, introduced in the country just after WWII.

  The Connecticut Valley, in the Northeast of the USA, is well known for its bright golden wrapper. Because of a very hot and sunny summer, the tobacco is shade grown to make the leaf more delicate with few veins and even surface. Connecticut Shade wrapper grown in the United States has a mild to medium flavor and a silky quality, making it one of the most expensive and sought-after cigar wrappers in the cigar industry.

  The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together. 
  Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.
