Using Kentucky Fired Cured tobacco, traditionally used for chewing or pipe tobacco, Drew Estate's MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured (KFC) has a distinct "barbecue" aroma that comes from the hickory, maple, and oak wood used for fire in the curing barns. For 5 years Drew Estate has worked with this never-before-been-used-for-cigars tobacco to ensure a balanced blend with Nicaraguan fillers from Jalapa and Esteli.

  Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

  Brazil produces rich, medium to strong, dark tobaccos with a sweet taste and aroma. Most of the cigar production is concentrated on the eastern coast of Brazil, in the state of Bahia. Mata Fina tobacco is grown in a region in the Reconcavo Basin of the State of Bahia called Mata Fina (which translated means "thin plants"). Tobacco was one of the natural crops in the region.
