There he purchased a small cigar factory and named it El Credito. In 1976, his son Ernesto Jr. took over the enterprise. In the 1990s, El Credito released the legendary La Gloria Cubana cigar. Eventually, El Credito was purchased by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, which still makes the La Gloria Cubana cigar in the Dominican Republic.
