A full-strength cigar with rich notes of cocoa, chocolate, spice, wood, and leather. Its Mexican San Andres wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and filler. This awesome blend includes the Sancti Spiritus leaf, which is grown exclusively by My Father Cigars. Handmade in Nicaragua, La Mission by L'Atelier Import cigars, of which Pete Johnson of Tatuaje is a partner, is a cigar inspired by a Bordeaux winery called Chateau La Mission. The “1959” date corresponds to the year that the winery received a 100 point rating from Robert Parker, a highly respected wine critic and publisher of The Wine Advocate.

La Mission, launched in 2015, is the most full bodied release of L'atelier, using a Mexican San Andres wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The blend also includes Sancti Spiritus leaf in the filler, a tobacco grown by the Garcia family in Nicaragua. La Mission is handmade in the Garcia's factory, My Father Cigars.

A box pressed cigar is a cigar that has a square shape. Originally, this shape came from the practice of packing round cigars tightly in cardboard boxes which are then compacted using a manual press. The cigars are thus pressed into each other and become a "squarish" or semi-square shape. Today, cigar makers use square shaped molds or a wooden trunk press for their box pressed cigars, achieving a more defined square section.

The "Garcia Family Industrial Park" located in Esteli, Nicaragua is a seven-acre complex with 9 buildings, over 1900 employees, where the Garcias supervise their cigar production from the tobacco field to the roller's table. Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

This cigar ruined over 100 sticks for me!! The deep rich cocoa & chocolate was absolutely delicious & superb!! Te burn & ash were an absolute dream!! The awesome flavor is what ruined my everyday sticks because of the hundreds of cigars I have resting in my humidor nothing can even come close to matching the fantastic deep rich flavors!! This Tatuaje cigar was really good overall. The construction was on point as was the draw. The initial taste was very heavy on peppery spice which was just a tiny bit off-putting but it smoothed out quickly into some leathery, slightly creamy and nutty flavors which were very enjoyable. The burn was a bit uneven and needed a relight after sitting for just a minute or so halfway through it. I was surprised that there was no harshness even down to a little nub. Would buy again.

Purchased because this smoke landed on the top 25 list this year. It was a bit of a wild card smoke and not similar to my normal cigar choices. However, I enjoyed the unique taste. Had to relight once but it did burn smoothly. This was a great "outside of the box" smoke for me.

A nice, rich, smoking experience. Started off with notes of black pepper, fruit, earth, leather, dark chocolate, n' coffee, but by the middle it had developed a nice fruity bouquet and an oaky pungency reminiscent of a wine and cheese pairing. A really unique experience.

My favorite cigar with wine pairings. Robust full flavor profile with a sweet earthy wrapper with a touch of dark chocolate. A slight hint of pepper on retrohale only. as you progress thru this beauty, the earthiness is still there but, you pick up some spicy meat like intensity. Not overwhelming, just noticeable. You grab some nuttiness towards the end. the interesting thing with this cigar is that you pick up so much more with a slight retrohale once in a while. Trust me, if you like pairing wine with your cigars, you will be denying yourself a lot if you don't grab a fiver at least of these precious little gems. It's smoothness and transition tells me it smokes like a medium / full but, she can knock you around just a bit. Call it rough love.

A different flavor profile than I was expecting. A dark, maduro-type cigar. Great draw and full-bodied flavor. Burned consistently.
