A medium to full-bodied cigar with soothing notes of vanilla, oak, and spice, along with a woody, spicy and floral aroma. Its dual wrapper consists of a Mexican San Andres leaf topped off by a Kentucky tapa negra leaf, which has been barrel-aged for twelve months. The wrappers are expertly draped over a Nicaraguan binder, and a filler made of Kentucky and Nicaraguan tobaccos. Handmade by Drew Estate in Nicaragua, the Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented cigar is a perfect accompaniment to a Van Winkle Bourbon or rye.

  Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

  The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
  Known for its elasticity and small veins, Kentucky tobacco is highly sought after for its consistency and resilience, as well as its robust taste and pungent aroma. Usually rough in texture, the majority of Kentucky tobacco is fire-cured to add a smoky, mesquite flavor.
