Christian Eiroa sold his first company, Caribe Imported Cigars (famous for its Camacho cigar brand), to the Oettinger Davidoff Group when he was only 36 years old. After the acquisition, Eiroa decided to start a new cigar company and CLE Cigars was born. CLE stands for his initials. CLE made it big in the market when they created the concept of a new giant ring gauge cigar: The Asylum 7x70. Soon, the brand took off and surprisingly, the colossal size became popular. Today, Asylum cigars are the standard for all 70 and 80 ring gauge cigars.
