How do I change the password to my Cigar Scanner account?
- Go to the Cigar Scanner log-in screen, click "forgot password?"
- In the next screen, enter the email address you use to log into Cigar Scanner.
- Click the "Send" button.
Instructions on how to change your password will be sent to you promptly.I know of an
awesome cigar shop in my city; why is it not listed in your map? The Cigar Scanner’s Places tools is synched to Google Maps. If your cigar shop is not listed, please have the shop’s owner register their business with Google My Business.
How can I add cigars
to my journal/wish list/favorites/humidor? When you search for a cigar
and click on its name, you are sent to the product page. In this product page,
on the upper left-hand corner there is an “+add to” button. Upon selecting it,
you will be given the option to add the cigar to your journal, wish list,
favorites, or humidor. You can sort your lists by reviews, data added, or
alphabetical order.
How can I add
friends? When you’re on the social tab, on the upper right-hand corner
there is a search icon that looks like a magnifying glass. You can use this
tool to look for your friends and follow them. Additionally, next to the
magnifying glass there is an icon that will allow you to filter what you see in
the social feed. You have the option to see everyone’s posts or only the posts
of the people that you follow.
The photo of my
cigar wasn’t recognized, so it’s not in your database. How can I add it?
If your photo is not recognized, you also have the option of searching for it
manually by using our text search tool. On the upper right-hand corner of the
My Cigars page, you will see the search icon that looks like a magnifying
glass. Upon selecting it, you can search for your cigar by name. If it is not
in the database, you have the option of selecting “+add my cigar” and creating
it using all of the specifications that we have available for all other cigars.
Another option would be to send us the name of the cigar that you can’t find
and we will add it to the database in a timely manner.
I added my cigar
and now I can’t add a picture, price, or review. What do I do? After
you create your cigar, you can use the search tool to search for your cigar by
name. This time, you will be able to see the cigar’s page. Here is where you
will be able to add a photo, price, location, personal note, and review for
your cigar.
I want to print my
cigar journal/humidor/wish list/favorites list… Why can’t I find a printing
option? Cigar Scanner is an eco-friendly company so we do not offer a
printing option. We keep all of our data digital so that it can be easily
accessed by our users. However, if you do wish to send friends and family your
lists, you could do so by using our desktop version. You will be able to email
links to your lists to your friends without having to print them.
I want to add
several entries for the same cigar. My palate has changed and so should my
review. Why can I only review my cigar once? Here at Cigar Scanner we
are concerned with authenticity. We provide users one review per cigar. However,
they can use the personal note section of each cigar page in order to keep
track of when they bought the box, how long they’ve aged their cigars, what
changed from their past review, etc. This is also a great way to make our
services unbiased and prevent manufacturers from spamming our system with
ratings of their own cigars.
Can Cigar Scanner
user a flavor wheel like all other cigar sites? In order to be as
precise as possible with our recommendations, we use a word cloud instead of a
flavor wheel. At the bottom of each cigar page, you will see a list of most
used words used in user reviews. This allows us to give users accurate
information. Instead of labeling any dark colored cigar as a “peppery maduro”
we like to use the words of other users. So, if many users list wood notes,
then you will see “wood” as one of the words. This ensures that we give users
the most accurate and unbiased information.
All of my data is
gone! What next? First thing is first, don’t panic! All user
information is saved on a cloud so all we need for users to do it simply log
back into their accounts if they find themselves logged out for whatever
reason. If you cannot regain access to your account, please send us some

and we will fix the issue for you.
I’ve upgraded to a
new phone. Does this mean that all of my data is missing? Your data is
still fine. All that you have to do is log into your account. The desktop
version also works the same way, both the app and the PWA (desktop version) are
synced as long as you are signed in. This is why we encourage users to create
accounts, so that their information is saved.
How do I share cigars in my Journal, Favorites, Wish List or
Humidors with my friends who do have the Cigar Scanner app? If you want to share a cigar with your friends that do not have the Cigar Scanner app, please follow these steps: select the cigar, click on the share icon (located on the upper right hand corner), choose “Other Sharing options”, and select how you want to share the cigar. We also suggest your friends download the Cigar Scanner app. It is available for both Apple and Android devices. They can then follow you on Cigar Scanner’s Social page.
How to Change the Cigar Scanner Sensor's Battery: Changing the battery on the Cigar Scanner Hygrometer/Thermometer is easy. Before You Start: You will need a penknife, a small Phillip's head screwdriver, and two fresh "AAA" batteries.
- Press and hold the sensor's power button (located on the back of the sensor) until you see the flashing blue light located on the front of the sensor.
- Place the sensor face down on top of a desk or table.
Use the penknife to carefully remove the rubber seal around the sensor.
- Use the screwdriver to remove the screws.
- Use the penknife to carefully pry open the sensor's body.
- Remove the old batteries and properly discard them.
- Insert the new batteries. Be mindful of the polarity.
- Replace the screws. Be careful not to over tighten them.
- Replace the seal.
- Turn the sensor on by pressing and holding the power button until you see the steady blue light (it will only come on momentarily).
Note: the sensor may take a few minutes (sometimes up to 20 minutes) to connect to the gateway and start sending a reading to the app.
