  Foundation Olmec Maduro

  The Foundation Olmec Maduro cigar line was crafted as a tribute to the Olmec civilization which occupied the San Andres region in Mexico as well as other regions between 1600 and 400 BCE. The Olmecs were known to have been one of the first civilizations to use mathematical formulas to build pyramids and smoke cigars. The Olmec Maduro cigars were also created to honor the distinct tobacco that comes from this region. Its dark chocolatey Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper undergoes a slow, low temperature fermentation process, which preserves the tobaccos’ oils and contributes to the cigar’s overall flavor profile. The cigar’s Nicaraguan filler leaves are bale-aged for three years prior to rolling. This careful aging process allows the tobacco to develop its distinct flavors.

  Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.
