  The Gurkha Year of the Dragon cigar was crafted to welcome in the year 2024, which according to the Chinese Zodiac is represented by a dragon. It is the first time that Gurkha has released a cigar to celebrate the Chinese New Year (also referred to as the Lunar New Year). The cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic from undisclosed proprietary tobacco and feature a savory maduro wrapper. Once rolled, the cigars are placed in a specially designed collectible box that commemorates the new year. According to the Chinese Zodiac, people born on the Year of the Dragon are considered ambitious and intelligent. In 1995, his grandson Gilberto Oliva would launch the Oliva cigar brand, produced in Esteli, Nicaragua. The company's flagship brand, Oliva Serie V, has obtained some of the highest ratings in cigar publications worldwide. Their cigars use mostly tobacco harvested by the company in their various farms in Nicaragua.
