When Pete Johnson, founder of Tatuaje Cigars, created the Cabaiguan Guapos, he not only wanted to pay tribute to these skilled artisans and their city, he also wanted to create a true Cuban-style cigar. And, Johnson’s efforts paid off. The Cabaiguan Guapos Maduro features a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The "Garcia Family Industrial Park" located in Esteli, Nicaragua is a seven-acre complex with 9 buildings, over 1900 employees, where the Garcias supervise their cigar production from the tobacco field to the roller's table. Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

  Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
