In 1865, Eduardo Plasencia left his home in the Canary Islands, Spain and headed to Cuba to become a tobacco farmer. By the end of the 19th Century, Eduardo’s nephew, took over the family business. In the early 1960s, they were forced to leave Cuba because of the revolution. The Plasencias moved to Nicaragua where they rebuilt their business until they were driven out by yet another revolution. Not to be defeated, the Plasencias settled in Honduras and began anew. Eventually, they returned to Nicaragua but kept their interests in Honduras. They then started crafting cigars for some of the best known brands in the business. By 2015, Plasencia was producing over 40 million cigars a day. In 2017, the Plasencias launched their first branded cigar. And to think it all started with one man, one dream and a few seeds. The
