  The Blackened M81 Cigars by Drew Estate is the dream-come-to-life creation of three top-tier artisans from three very diverse fields who share an immense passion for cigars. James Hetfield, singer/songwriter/guitarist of the metal band Metallica, along with Rob Dietrich, master distiller and blender of Blackened Whiskey, and Johnathan Drew, cigar crafter and founder/president of Drew Estate, teamed up create this potent and flavor packed cigar. It took the trio two years to develop the blend, which they consider an expression of passion. The cigar is composed of a Mexican San Andres wrapper draped over a USA Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a filler composed of Nicaraguan and USA Pennsylvania leaves. This is one dark and flavorful cigar. As a nod to the band Metallica, the “M81” stands for Metallica and 1981, which is the year the band was formed. “Blackened” is the name of a song from the band’s “And Justice for All” album, which was released in 1988.
